"Service Handler"?

Featured Replies

I am using Chrome (Win 8-1, Classic Shell) and noticed a odd sort of double-diamond icon in my address bar on the right end. When I hovered the cursor I got "This page wants to install a service handler"....duh??

I Googled it but found the explanations confusing and didn't understand them.

Can someone explain this in simple terms and is it something to be concerned about?

A Service Handler gives ongoing permission for a website to directly interact with specific applications either on your PC or those you use that are web/cloud-based -- mostly email or calender.

How safe is allowing this? Hmmm. Give me a couple of years and I'll get back to you.

Since I (sort of) understand and want to keep things as they are...I "disabled requests." Thanks for the understandable link and explanation, NeverSure and Richcor.

Could only judge if I knew what service handler that is.

Better be safe and don't allow.
