BANGKOK: -- AUTHORITIES are investigating why a fire flared up again at an electronics factory in Ayutthaya's Bang Pa-in Industrial Estate.

The second blaze came only hours after the first fire was put out on Monday. It was extinguished by 1.30am.

The new fire at the APCB Electronics Co factory is now completely out and officials will inspect the building for damage and structural stability, Adisak Khaonoona, head of the provincial disaster prevention and mitigation office, said yesterday.

During the police's forensic inspection in the morning, a Pollution Control Department representative told reporters that there would be no impact from the smoke as it was swept away by wind.

The team also said some parts of the building might have to be demolished. The building was sealed off and the damage was estimated at about Bt100 million.

Other blazes caused Bt50 million in damage to a Nakhon Pathom textile factory and another fire destroyed a furniture shop and nearby printing shop in Pathum Thani's Muang district, causing Bt10 million in damage.

In Nakhon Pathom's Sam Phran district, a fire broke out at 8am at the five-building front section of the 21-rai (3.4-hectare) compound of the MK Textile factory on Soi Khlong Om Yai.

The fire broke out in the first building, with fabrics stored inside, and spread quickly to the second and third buildings while intensifying. The first building was completely burned down.

As the fire raged on, Governor Chatchai Uthaipan visited the scene at 10.45am and consoled company executives Wichai Mahamongkol, 53, and On-anong Mahamongkol, 56. The fire was under control around noon and the area was cordoned off for safety. No injuries were reported.

A coordination centre was set up to find a way to extinguish the fire, while agencies would test the air and surroundings for impacts. The factory was ordered closed for 15 days.

In the Pathum Thani case, a fire took place at 4am at a commercial building on Charoenpol Wattana Road. The damage to the two-unit Pathum Sampan Printing Shop and the four-unit Kawinsin Furniture Shop was said to be at least Bt10 million. The fire also partially damaged a nearby salon and shop.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire and will conclude their probe in four weeks, Pol Colonel Pongnares Tanwattana said during the afternoon inspection.

Structural stability? Look at the picture.

I wouldn't even send Chalerm in there with Thaksin stapled to his testicular verdancy...

I see a bit of heat deformation after what might have been a very hot fire, but it looks pretty good compared to the WTC towers.

Why would anybody use the initials PCB in the name of their electronics company?

PCB stands for Printed Circuit Boards, I'm pretty sure that is what it stands for in their name since they make circuit boards for electronics. So if you are in the electronics field you will know it right away, instead of identifying it with the toxic Polychlorinated biphenyl.
