After 6 years of been legally married to my longtime thai fiancé, I want to take her to US for a short visit (1 week). Which would be the type of Visa we should apply for and how fast we can get it. thanks

US visa is up to the discretion of the interviewing employee of the US embassy. Over 10 years ago I applied for a tourist visa for my wife who had no job, no property, and no travel visa's in her passport. She was denied on the basis that they thought she would just disappear in US and try to stay illegally. As a result I took her on many trips throughout Asia (to show that she travels and returns to Thailand), we bought a house in Thailand (her name to show she has something to return to) .....result was, first, a 6 month tourist visa and later a 10 year visa. Don't know if things are still the same but wish you luck anywaysmile.png

First time took wife back to US... We were both still studying in Thai...

Only had been married for about a year and she had never traveled outside Thailand

She had no job or money in the bank (maybe 20-30k thb?)or property

Submitted her documents from her school showing her break and that she was registered for next semester...

Submitted my school docs, showing I was a student and registered for next semester (Thai UNI)

Received a single entry visa..

Fast forward to just last year... Married for 9 years... 2 kids... I'm working here for a Thai company... She works out of our house for her self...

Filled out the application and submit the tourist visa application form in advance through website (as required)...

She showed up and embassy didn't need to see any supporting documents or bank books or proof of my employment or property or anything....

They asked her 'how many years have you been married'... She answered... Embassy said your visa will be in the mail...

Got it back a few days later... 10 year multiple entry tourist visa..

Easy peasy

Tourist B2 Visa.

You could probably do the whole thing in a week if you can get an appointment that fast. The on-line app. takes an hour or so, if you have all information handy.

She should have your passport with current and past visa pages flagged. Also any other documents showing her ties to Thailand. Property, bank, house, etc. You should also include an itinerary for the trip.

The interview is short. There was a thread awhile back (wish I could find it), about the interview, and how the officer probably makes a decision in the first minute or so. I believe this to be true. First impressions and all, type of thing.

My GF got a 10 year visa. I had only been in Thailand for a year. She had about 20k in the bank, no property. She did have a small business. A year later, both our kids (hers from previous) received same.

A smile and some small talk, go a long way.

Good luck, and keep us up to date.

Unless you got lots of assets in Thailand, good luck.

Total rubbish ^^

My wife owns nothing and my house is company owned. She got a 10 year in 1 week (application to receipt of visa) in October 2014.

Agree..,

First application neither my wife or I was working or had much money..,

Last year we were much better off, considering I had been working in Thailand and wife was also running her own home business, but Embassy staff did not even want to see any of it...

I think a marriage is viewed a whole lot differently than a girlfriend by embassy folks..

Most of the people I hear that have trouble are those that are boyfriend or girlfriend or maybe just married...

Being married for 6 years now, don't think the OP will have that much difficulty
