SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Google will stop selling its Internet-connected eyewear to consumers until the company can develop a more polished and affordable version that’s less likely to be viewed as a freakish device.

This is good news. Stupid idea and a major invasion of privacy.

Can't you read?

Sometimes cool tech gets trumped by fashion. Great technology, but who wants to walk around looking like hybrid geek/borg freek? Fully expect the next gen google glass to be a lot better looking, remember the early days of bluetooth, we all looked something akin to Lt Uhura with a giant earpiece sticking out of our ears

It's still a gross invasion of privacy though.

Remember Google's corporate motto:

"Do no evil"

right......

Best News this year!

Can only imagine how many Road Disasters these things would have caused.(...no I didn't even mention, THAILAND in that comment.)

Wonder if Google is now trying to fill the position of "VISIONARY" at the company HQ?

Nonsense! There are public cameras all over the place today. If you go out into public with an expectation of privacy, you are either unaware that you have none or will be grossly disappointed. The only place you can reasonable expect some level of privacy anymore is in your own home. There, you can ask guest not to use electronic devices you oppose. If you are concerned with privacy, stay home.

well, you don't really have much privacy in your own home either, unless you turn off your cell phones and computers. PRISM and all that stuff.

To an extent you are correct, but I still don't fancy some pervert peering down at my massive member at the urinal and then posting video of it to Youtube.

There are some places where cameras are still not welcome.

No worries Chicog, it isn't a magnifying glass

Just as well, a Wide angle lens is required.

On the privacy topic; remember in the 'ye olden days' when as stupid as it sounds today, at the advent of camera phones there was a fierce debate, and even proposed legislation to ensure that they generated a 'shutter clicking' noise to guard against surreptitious photo's

I suspect that the same will become true of whatever the next iteration of Google Glass or it's inevitable clones

What? no more glass-holes?
