I have both Swedish and Serbian passport. Same name in both. What would happen if i go 1 time with my Swedish and second time with my Serbian passport. Would it show me as different visitor or same due to same name /fingerprints /birthday.

Immigration can and will do a name and date of birth search when using a passport for the first time on entry to the country. Your immigration history with another passport will be combined with the other one.

Later this year I will be seeking dual citizenship.

Will it be possible to transfer my retirement visa extension from my present nationality passport to the new nationality one, if I wish to use my new nationality passport in the future ?

You would not be able to transfer the extension to your new passport with a different nationality.

You would have to go out of the country and get a single entry non-o visa in your new passport and then apply for an extension.

Ok, thank you, ubonjoe, for the clear answer !

Just opening this old thread again,, because I now hold dual citizenship, and i need a new visa to enter Thailand.

But I have a problem getting a single entry non-o visa here in Sweden, because the embassy says, that I need to have a pension income of at least 18500 SEK after tax to get the visa.

With the current exchange rate swedish kronor/thai baht it means approx. 79,478 Baht per month after tax, which is more, than I actually get after paying tax.

As far as I know, thai Immigration wants to see an income of 65,000 Baht /month, and earlier years, when I got the extension, immigration never had any problem with the fact, that the embassy wrote the amount of my pension before tax.

So, I am thinking, is it still possible to arrive on a tourist visa, change that visa to non-o at immigration and later get a 1 year extension ?

If this is possible, what is the time frame for all this, if I for example arrive at November 1st, when can I apply for the non-o and when can I later apply for the extension ?

You can do the change to a non immigrant visa but it can only be done at Bangkok and few nearby offices (Pattaya is one). You have to make 2 trips to immigration to get the visa/entry stamps.

If not living in or near Bangkok it would be best to go to Vientiane or Penang to get a single entry non-o visa. They will accept a letter from your embassy to prove your income. Just attach a copy of the letter you your application and show them the original so you can use it to apply for the extension.

Ok, that sounds good.

I am living in Rayong, do you know, if they do the change ?

Anyway, not the big problem, if they don't, I can go to Pattay then, it's not far away.

But what is the time frame ?

I am asking, because I know, I need to travel back to Europe some time in April next year, and it would be best, if I could have the extension, before I go, so I don't risk to have to start all over again.

I will be arriving in Thailand in the beginning of November.

P.S. and by the way, will immigration accept an income letter from an embassy from a different country than my present ?

I am not sure Rayong will do the change. I have seen no reports them being able to accept the application which would be sent to Bangkok for approval.

I don't think Pattaya will do it for you. You would have to be living in their area of responsibility.

Bangkok would not be that bad for you. I assume you will have to get your income letter from your embassy in Bangkok. You could do it and the application on the same day. Then go back to get the stamps.

You could apply for the visa as soon as you get the income letter. That could be done within a few days of when you enter the country.

You will get a 90 day entry form the date you apply. Then you could apply for the extension during the last 30 days (perhaps even 45 days) of the entry at Rayong immigration.

Thanks again, ubonjoe, for providing very useful information !

I wonder, if you or anyone else can answer my last question too:

will immigration accept an income letter from an embassy from a different country than my present ?

The thing is, that I plan to arrive with a swedish passport, but my pension income is from Denmark, so probably only the danish embassy in Bangkok will give me the income letter, I need.

I don't think / am not sure, that the swedish embassy can / will give me such a letter.

I cannot speak for the Swedish embassy but the British embassy will issue a letter based on income from anywhere as long as that income can be evidenced/proven.

I think only the Swedish embassy can answer your question.

Thank you for answering, but I think, you misunderstood my question, or maybe I don't express myself clear ?

Of course I can ask the Swedish embassy, if they want to verify my income based on the pension documents, I have from Denmark.

But the question is: will immigration accept an income letter from an embassy from a different country than my present ? (nationality)

If you entered on your Swedish passport that would be the embassy that immigration would expect the income letter to come from.

Immigration does not care where the income is from.

I will ask the swedish embassy, if they will issue an income letter for me.
