I'm looking for a fun place to watch the Super Bowl at 6:30am Feb 2nd here in Bangkok. I have gone to the Road house before but was wondering if anyone has other suggestions? Thanks. Go Pat's!

Good news on finally, supposedly, having unfettered streaming access to the full Super Bowl broadcast:

NBC to Offer 11 Hour Free Superbowl Stream
by Karl Bode 02:02PM Tuesday Jan 20 2015
As part of the company's effort to improve the reputation of its online streaming TV Everywhere initiative, Comcast and NBC Universal say they'll be broadcasting this year's Superbowl online, for free. In very un "TV Everywhere" fashion, NBC's eleven hour stream won't require proof of a traditional cable subscription to watch. A study last year found that 82% of consumers have no idea what TV Everywhere even is, something NBC and Comcast hope to remedy by what will likely be more than a few pitches for the concept during the big game.
That said, no mention in this report on whether the streaming will only be available to U.S. IPs, or whether it will be unrestricted worldwide. Of course, even if it is restricted to U.S. IPs, that is an easily dealt with restriction.

Meanwhile, for those who prefer a more social activity... one of the email newsletters I receive had this partial short-list of BKK public viewing locations:

Monday, February 2 At 6:30 AM

See the Super Bowl at the following venues that are presenting the game along with breakfast specials.

American Bar & Grill: two TVs, one 50-inch and one 75-inch, inside and outside with an entrance fee of 300 baht that includes breakfast. Soi 8, www,americanbarbangkok.com, Calling for reservations recommended.

Tenderloins, Soi 33, Many TVs inside with a breakfast buffet of 350 baht including a Bloody Mary. www.tenderloins33.com, Calling for reservations recommended.

The Sport Corner: Many TVs inside and out with a 140 baht buffet breakfast available. Corner of Soi 20, www.thesportcornerbkk.com,

I'm sure there are other public viewing locations as well elsewhere.

Will there be a showing where the announcer screams Toooooouuuuucccchhhh Doooooowwwwwnnnn, holding

it for a minute or so? Naah, still wouldn't be as much fun as football, er, I mean soccer. I hope there's at least one American man enough to rise to the bait.

I was watching some of the NBC network pregame live stream broadcast early Monday morning.

Looks like watching the NBC stream is going to require a U.S. IP address.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) —More than 1.3 million people watched the Super Bowl through NBC's web stream, instead of traditional television, at the pivotal moment when the Patriots' Malcolm Butler intercepted a pass intended for the Seahawks' Ricardo Lockette.

That stat -- released by NBC shortly after the game -- can be read one of two ways.

One: streaming continues to take over by converting new fans. 1.3 million is the highest-ever number of concurrent streaming viewers for a Super Bowl.

Two: television distribution continues to reign supreme. If people can watch the game on a big screen through a cable or satellite provider, they generally will. Streaming is a back-up.

Both assessments are true.

More and more people are streaming all sorts of programming, including live sporting events. And that phenomenon is sure to continue in the years to come; if next year's Super Bowl broadcaster, CBS, decides to make the game available on the Internet, it'll probably break this year's streaming record.

Last year Fox's live stream of the game peaked at around 1.1 million viewers. Fox said that stream averaged 528,000 average viewers, meaning the number that were watching, on average, every minute of the game.

Why all the fuss? It was televised live by TrueVisions. No need for VPNs or small computer screens.

If you don't have True next year, just go to the house of a friend who does. I didn't watch it alone.

If you don't have True next year, just go to the house of a friend who does. I didn't watch it alone.

It allows people to watch the game on the go. For example, if you were at work on Monday morning, you could have streamed the game (or just listened in) on your mobile phone.

Also not everybody who posts on this website have access to TrueVisions.

Rather than start a new topic, because this thread has places from last year for reference, does anyone have any updates for the good places or Superbowl parties this year 2016 in Bangkok? For me, Sukhumvit area works best, but please post any interesting options anywhere.

That's a Jan. 2015 article... not Jan. 2016 current. And, their very first listing for BeerVault in Suk Soi 15 is dead, since the BeerVault closed some months back and has been replaced by Hooters (though Hooters might well be showing the game, from what I recall from a recent visit there). Meanwhile, Home Run Bar later down on the BK list is also gone.

FWIW, I was at Roadhouse BBQ on Surawong recently, and they had a promotion for the Super Bowl this year including Breakfast. Believe the American Bar and Grill on Suk Soi 8 is also advertising a game and breakfast package. And I'd be pretty sure Bourbon Street on Ekamai is doing the same, as they have pretty much every year.

Once again this year, the full game is supposed to be streamed online for free, though I'm not sure whether VPNs will be required for those outside the U.S.

Meanwhile, I guess the answer to the VPN or proxy issue is YES, since I this this Q & A on the CBS Sports website:

Will the CBSSports.com stream of Super Bowl 50 be available to users outside of the US?

NFL events available through CBSSports.com are geo-restricted to the US only. We do not have any international rights available at this time, so we are unable to accommodate our international users.
