Yes, I know plenty of it occurs on here, but I am looking for

the fresh kind,to make jam ,pies or even rhubarb and custard.

So has anyone seen any or know where to purchase some,

a few months ago I bought some very good rhubarb at Makro

Mae Rim,and used to see it in Rimping, but not for quite a while.

Also anyone seen any frozen Apricots at any of the Makro's,

I only really go to the one on Superhighway and they have

not had any for quite a while,I know they have Peaches but

they are not very good for jam,but make a nice Chutney.

In 2014 we bought fresh rhubarb in/around May. Since then no more seen the fresh ones.

Rimping Promenada sells the frozen pack, 1kg.

Since 6 months Makro HangDong no more have the frozen apricots (import from USA).

We asked the responsible person for the frozen fruit products about the next delivery. But as you can guess the answer was: soon.

Only place I found fresh rhubarb was at Makro in Pattaya a few months ago, very expensive so didnt buy .

Do not think rhubarb can be grown in T'land due to lack of extended cold period. So all must be imported from northern places which raises prices. But suggest you look around in about 8 weeks as that's when the weather warms up in Korea, no. China, etc.

I have seen fresh rhubarb in one of the markets in Pattaya but not been looking for awhile as I bought a bag of frozen from Friendship!

try some peach butter and you will forgo jam. fresh or frozen peaches work to make this delious treat.

Never ceases to amaze me. OP asks for Rhubarb. Not something similar, only rhubarb. And the first prize winner suggest peaches, something not grown here.

I even tried to grow some, first with seeds, then i

had a friend bring some corms,both failure,its

a pity as now have horse stabled not far from

the house,as Rhubarb loves horses s$it.

I wonder if they grow it in China, thats where it

actually came from.but is it grown commercially

as they export some very nice vegetables to

Thailand, much better and cheaper than Thai

grown Veggies, not sure about chemicals though .

I'm pretty sure that peaches are grown here, but the "season" seems to be something like 2 weeks. They are very small but very tasty - just like at home. Too bad they are not around longer every year.

Fine, but this thread is about Rhubarb, not peaches.

Clearly, you didn't bother to read his entire post, since he also asked about apricots which are quite similar to peaches.

In America, a favorite dessert is strawberry-rhubarb pie. That's because their harvest partially overlaps. Every year there is rhubarb available from the Royal Project, but as noted above, the harvest is brief. So you have to keep an eye out for it. The rhubarb that was available at Makro came from Australia. I used to get those apricots, too. The problem was that they didn't sell well so I guess Makro 86'd them.

Actually, there seem to be a few peach seasons here. One comes in the early part of the year. That's for the small local peaches which tend to be a bit bitter but have a strong almond flavor. Probably an old and primitive variety. Later in the year come the delicious sweet peaches. Or at least they can be delicious if they're harvested when ripe. I had some last year and the were great. There's also an extended plum season with smaller, sourer varieties coming first. They make great jam.

Not that desperate, Mr.Smith, but it could be done, but would be expensive.

Hell, I'd settle for plain ole rhubarb & custard. Just love that acid and tartness of the rhubarb then the sweetness of hot custard. May just have to find this Royal Project shop tomorrow....is that the one out near the night safari area?

I use the one on Suthep Road, west of the canal road, near the CMU.

GPS coordinates:

RimPing Promenada also sold them yesterday; only 2 packs left.
