Pochettino surprised journalists at a media conference with an unusual analogy when asked whether he was feeling confident heading into the European campaign.

"Experience is experience but you need to apply it, plus the hunger, plus the motivation, plus being clever. If you are not clever it is not going to help you in the future," he said.

"It is like a cow that for every single day for 10 years sees the train cross at the same time and if you ask the cow what time the train is going to come, he is not going to have the right answer.

"Football is the same - motivation, circumstance, many things in football are so important. If you show the same hunger, same motivation, if you fight in the right way, there are many things that can keep you in the same way as the experience."

Anyone understand the Cow analogy?

Not on par with "When the seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think that sardines will be thrown into the sea" is it.

He needs more resources. Top managers don't just turn bad overnight. He's got a juggling act and a half to contend with and players who are knackered from the WC. I would mog be surprised to see him at all youth matches looking to unearth a saviour. He knows he has more chance there than begging the board

Yeah agreed like outstanding players managers dont loose their abilty over night but like all walks of life there's highs and lows with players we loosely call it 'form' no real diference with managers atm 4 want of a more appropriate word.. he aint on 'form'  his decision making atm is proving to b poor..blame it on tiredness with players  lack of budget what ever but in our squad  there are enuf DECENT internarional  quality  players that can  and need to step up and deliver.he just needs to manage/ orgonise them to PRODUCE atm it aint happening for him.. he needs to sort.

Shows what a top manager he is to keep his true feelings out of the public domain. Inside he must be seething and know he has a right job on his hands competing with the top teams and in Europe with the existing numbers and strength  in his squad.

No way would he have wanted to leave Trippier and Alderweireld at home against a side like Inter.

Maybe the cows not being able to tell the time is a backhander to the board. The board have got it all wrong. They identified players they wanted to replace, did not do it and then expect the unwanted players to just play on when they created the uncertainty. Imagine the grief the players wives give them when it's public knowledge they were unwanted. This is the year that should have been for Poch.  I see it ending in tears.

All media led ASSUMPTIONs.. the club or poch have never t listed or announced that they wanted to replace anyone.. and EVERY baring arguably  kane position has decent cover, players have made 'noises' they want to leave. Thats down to them and not the club.  If they're under contract.. then they PERFORM or their cover should step up, and in the majority are current internationals and r V ARE capable, this arguably  is the 1st  time poch will face to turn HIS team /squads form around. trying time for him.. but blaming it on lack of funds... nah this squad was good enuf last season to compete and with the right decision makin ie formation subs  ect ect IMO SHOULD be again .

Very 50/50 this so far.

Got the feeling we could and should nick the win.

You seeing an improved performance then?

What a match ! And, how did Tottenham manage to lose it ?! I guess Handanovic was the hero for Inter. He made some big saves when it was 1-0.

Not a good 2nd half , how is it possible to look like a team in control of the game and suddenly there's no energy , no pressure ? No wonder Inter came back, although their first goal was impressive.

And Harry Kane , should have scored , if he could just control the ball .

I don't know , Barcelona next .  Crisis ?

Cracking game of football that....Icardi's goal was pure class.

To not take a point was cruel but such is CL life....at least we have the return fixture.

Kane played well and also Eriksen....and Moura....he is going to explode very soon.

Gutted.. but a great game..  thought poch made ONE mistake.. and imo was costly.. took kane of and from then on we  cleared couldnt hold onto the ball  it just relentlessly kept coming bac at us... and we lost.. a disapointing result but overall far better.. wot is it wirh us and wing bacs..we just cant get one that does everything.. we have  two  each side that if u took the best out of them and put it together  they'de be complete but as it is ALL lack something thing the  other has .. biizare.

.!!!!!!

Controlled that game for the most part, should have won and completely f*cked it up at the end.   Defeat that really hurts, and so similar to the game at Watford.

Positives to be taken in so much as it was an improved performance, despite missing half the regular starters and good to see Poch sticking up for the players in the face of stupid, thick journalists.

No different really to our normal slow starts to the season with all the usual suspects jumping on the bandwagon, and disappointedly nothing new to say!!

I have complete faith in the manager, the players and when we sort out our weakness to set piece and headers, lose the fatigue were currently suffering we'll be right back on track.  Apparently we lose to Liverpool (which most teams will this year) we unjustly lose away to Inter and were in crisis!!!  Brilliant!!?

If your manager has suffered 3 defeats on the bounce for the first time ever whilst boss of spurs. That is gonna become a crisis in any club. Brighton away is critical and only a complete knob head would beg to differ.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so rattled in an interview before. The pressure is starting to show. He left two key players behind which may have changed the result. Not saying that was wrong, but he will inevitably be asked questions around it.

Nonsense.  For the benefit of those that clearly didn't watch the game it was, bar a stupid five minutes our best performance of the season.

He s a TROLL  he just looks  at peoples posts to find  something to disagree with .. He's nothing else

but boring   EVERYONE has diferences of opinions but with him it seems to be the priority.

What I know is if you lose at Brighton that's a full blown crisis and you can disagree until the cows come home but a 4th loss in a row means the time is crisis o clock

Posted

I think 4 defeats in a row for a top 4 club represents a mini crisis at least?

Send btw R2D2 also has strong opinions on avocados, which he argued about for 3 hours. It's just how he rolls ?

But how is it that much different to your continued condemnation of your managers decisions recently?

I am simply looking at the results and looking at the fans comments and asking a question which you seem to be answering with the continued finger blaming at Poch .

You have derided a number of your managers decisions on 3 games recently and stated the manager is pretty much having an off period. So if that coincides with:

3 losses on the trot

Kane - no where near the level

Playing well and losing.

On the face of it anyone with a realistic outlook would say the club is near to or at crisis point if results don't change fast.

The same Spurs fans have been reluctant to admit how bad kane has been lately and it is no coincidence the same Spurs fans don't have the balls to coin the issue correctly.  Crisis. A 4th defeat will be a disaster.
