Can anyone tell me what information my Thai friend will need for a visa to Britian, she wants to go for a 2 weeks holiday on the 30th sept with her English boyfriend and wants to know the process of getting a visa.

Sure there is many people out there who have done this before and know the process.

Cheers,

So, this means you've read the following?

Guidance for Visitors Visa Applications

Guidance - Sponsors (INF 3)

Social visit checklist

Application centre site with details on how to apply etc.

She will basically have to show that:-

She can afford to fund the visit, from her own resources or with the aid of a sponsor.

She will be adequately accommodated during the visit.

She is a genuine visitor and will leave the UK when or before her visa expires.

It is the third point, known as "reason to return", that can be the difficulty. Does she own property, have a job? Will her employer confirm that she will still have a job on her return? Even if the answer is "No" to this, she may still qualify. Many Thais have obtained a visa to visit the UK to meet their boy/girlfriends family etc., based purely on the strength of the relationship with their sponsor. So if this is the case with your friend, she should supply lots of evidence to show this, phone records, e-mails etc., and her sponsor should write a brief letter outlining the history of the relationship, their future plans together and the reason for visiting the UK at this time.

If all the evidence submitted with the application satisfies the ECO that on the balance of probabilities the application is genuine and the criteria are met, then the visa should be issued within a few days, How long will my application take?

If no interview is required, your passport should be returned to the application centre within 2-5 working days. If you need to attend interview we aim to provide an interview within 15 working days. Unfortunately there will invariably be times - particularly at peak travel times- when we cannot reach these standards with all applications. Please help us to provide you with the best possible service by allowing sufficient time for your application to be processed. We recommend that you allow at least a month (for non-settlement) and 3 months (for settlement).
