what makes those trashy meals even worse, is to get them heated in the plastic foil

so you get some more petrol based chemicals in your body

don't come complain you get MALE BOOBS

part reason of so many ladyboys in this country ? as this messes up your estrogen levels

And "they" are likely to get rid of their noodles and we are being told that they are good to eat, along with rice whistling.gif Am I missing something here? blink.png

Some of the issues caused by MSG..

  • Headache
  • Flushing
  • Sweating
  • Facial pressure or tightness
  • Numbness, tingling or burning in the face, neck and other areas
  • Rapid, fluttering heartbeats (heart palpitations)
  • Chest pain
  • Nausea
  • Weakness
Some call it the "silent killer" : http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/04/21/msg-is-this-silent-killer-lurking-in-your-kitchen-cabinets.aspx

These are 'issues' because they are anti-empirical nonsense. Stop posting drivel.

The same "Dr" many years ago was promoting coconut oil for a sunscreen! w00t.gif

When I was working in the South Pacific nations (many many years ago) the white farang was using coconut oil to hasten suntan and the girls also used it in their hair to make it look black! whistling.gif

I tend to take his comments with a very large grain of salt!

There is no evidence that MSG has a direct correlation to these symptoms.

It's one of the most abundant naturally occurring amino acids.

MSG is found naturally in tomatoes, Parmesan, potatoes, mushrooms, and other vegetables and fruits.

The quantities man. Think about the QUANTITIES when used as a supplement. A tomato doesn't have a teaspoon of the stuff in it. Oxygen occurs naturally too...but too much will kill you.

... other preservatives, MSG and sugar -- mainly. I admit to indulging with those 'meals', albeit rarely nowadays. Also, regards the bread at 7-11, when it can last like two weeks on the shelf without going off, you have to ask yourself why is that. Large ratio of Thais occupy hospital wards with stomach issues. Thais don't necessarily have stronger stomachs regards eating chillis and strange things, they have simply built up tolerance. The human digestive system was just not meant to break down such crap and most of our ills are food-induced.

You are really all over the place dude. Chilis are neither crap nor preservatives. I doubt that there is reliable proof that the diet of Thais sends them to hospital wards provably more than other people (unless you consider the cheap booze). What is unique to this food that the human digestive system was not meant to break down? What "strange things" do Thais eat? Lots of veggies, rice, ckicken and fish. Healthier than greaseburgers and fries for sure. MSG? Controversial but the overwhelming majority of reputable research sources say that it may cause various forms or short term discomfort to some people but is not toxic and does not cause allergic reactions.

Yeah I have no taste complaints either, but viewed in those meals on occasion I find them quite good taste wise. The real question is about their health value, or lack thereof.

+1...Some are OK...Fast + easy. I'm guessing they are not 'health-food' but what do you really respect from 7/11 .

The fresh food at 7/11 is good compared to the shiiite they dare to sell in the street...

Comparing 7/11 food to street food does not make it "good".

If life's eating choices came down to just the two, I wouldn't be here.

Yes, I have eaten 7/11 food but ONLY when there is no other obvious choice.

Yes, I have eaten street food when I have fancied a kwitiow or the delicious Pad Krappow at Lat Krabang open air food court.

I would not wish to do so regularly.

The frozen 7-Eleven meals should probably be avoided for their sodium content alone.

Frozen foods are high in sodium to keep them from going bad when they thaw out.

In fact, any sort of street/restaurant/convenience food will be high in sodium since it is the easiest way to make something taste good. Canned foods are generally high in sodium as well.

MSG is found naturally in tomatoes, Parmesan, potatoes, mushrooms, and other vegetables and fruits.

Glutamic acid is found in these foods, but it is not the sodium salt version (MSG).

I like there shrimp wonton soup is ok. Just remember what you pay for is what you get. Also get yourself a 7/11 card you just charge it up with as much as you like , I nomally top up 500b at a time you can use it to also pay your bills and you get 7/11 points you can redeem. Also if you bill comes to say 102B you are not scratching around looking for change. The othe good thing you never get short changed as you just scan you card and the amount deducts from you balance.

I eat a lot of 7eleven dishes. They are ok. Theres not much streetfood around my condo but plenty of 7elevens. Similar prices, if I had the option I would pick street food. A lot of the food breaks down the percentage of ingredients but not the percent of nutrients. Ok, it says 10% margarine, 20% this or that... Its very nice to get that information. But im more interested in the nutrient breakdown and calories.

Most of the Food sold in 7/11 are ready made or microwave ready to eat meal. personally I think its ok once in a while if your hungry and dont wanna go far to get some food or just some quick meal. I wouldn't really consider them as real meal though.

The 7/11 meals are a God-send. I buy the spicy chicken sandwich, throw one bread and the chicken skin into the trash and eat the rest "open-faced". Ditto pork and cheese. If I know that I will be working out 3-5 hours in the early morning, I have to have them in the refrigerator waiting to save the day. After swimming 2 hours and yoga stretching one hour, I wolf down a sandwich and nap until 1 p.m. when I do one hour of strength training. And McDonald's? I get the double cheese, double meat burger, throw away one bread and eat the double burger "open-faced". Fries? Not on your life. I do not eat Death Fries. I don't even feed them to my dog. She gets RimPing ground beef, medium well done. Eat from street carts? Never. I like the tofu pork ball soup at Black Canyon Coffee. I eat to survive. Obviously, not for taste. I forgo yummy street cart meals. I'm 72 and I really, really want to make 80.

7/11 food is OK. There's a wide variety so should be something for everyone. Like someone else posted it's ok in an emergency.

A lot of posts suggests that street food is way better for the reason that street food does not contain all the additives that you find in the 7/11 food - MSG and sodium come up a few times as suggested bad additives.

I reckon there is much more sodium and MSG in the street food. They add MSG by the bucket full and fish sauce by the bottle full. If it wasn't for all the MSG the street food would taste dread full. MSG is the unofficial national food of Thailand.

I once tried something that looked like a fried chicken breast, turned out to be chicken skin and fat, one bite in the bin, never buy food there again.or much else really. Hard forme to understand how these shops draw such a customer base selling drinks and junk snacks.

With your life style I would rather be dead.
