Hi.

I lived in Thailand for 18 years now and was married in Denmark 13 years ago with my Thai wife, She is still Thai and we never applied for residence in Schengen. Every year we fly to Denmark in the summer for a three months vacation and have made a 90 days Schengen visa with a invitation from my family. Last year I heard that English married couples now can stay in Uk for longer time than the 90 days on holidays and was wondering if someone knew if same could be made for us this year. We would like to stay in Schengen , Denmark for 4.5 month - and we also would like to stay a fews days in London as a stop on the way to Cobenhagen if that could be done with out spending money on a Englich visa to. ? Thanks for any informations. LB

The UK is not a member of the Schengen area and so a Schengen visa is not valid for the UK, and vice versa.

So your wife will need to obtain a separate UK visit visa.

The standard length of a UK visit visa, regardless of the nationality of the applicant or their spouse, is 6 months and that is the maximum a visitor can stay in the UK for on any one visit.

You may find UK visit visa basics helpful.

If you stay in the UK en route to Denmark that may involve you booking a return ticket to Thailand via London.

Is there a reason why you are routing that way?

Why not return home and just visit the UK during your stay in Copenhagen?

Just take a budget airlines flight.

That might work out easier and cheaper..

Your wife will need a UK visa.
