Somebody tell me that this question is a joke.

10.12 Please state what ties you have:

The country where you were born. Any other country whose nationality you hold. Any country where you lived for more than 5 years.

You should tell us about family, friends, or other connections in that country.

You then have just 4 boxes in which to put your answers.

Is family immediate family of the mega extended family that Thais seem to have? All the aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces then there are the in laws.

What Thai person doesn't have at least 500 friends judging by the time spent on Facebook and Line. And what is "other connections".

I am sure I could spread answering that question out to 2 pages so what are they after exactly and how did others answer this question?

People have suggested that I should discuss this sort of theory with my GP, but I have a suspicion about this question. It reads to me like two questions:

  • If we decide to deport you, you might be able to appeal on the basis of Article 8 of the European convention on Human Rights. Please advise us how to defeat such a claim.

  • If we eventually decide to strip you of British nationality, we need to show that you probably retain or may acquire another nationality. Please advise what other nationalities may be open to you in such an eventuality.

You do not need to list every relative and friend that the applicant has.

Simply something like:

Thailand. My parents and x siblings and y friends and other relatives.

'Other connections' could be a business, property etc.
