I filled in a lot of these questions with none/not applicable/don't know. I mean, parents' religion?? How the heck am I supposed to know that? How would they know I'm giving accurate answers? I don't think they even looked at the application after I was done with it. It's probably just part of the big pile o' papers they need to collect from all the applicants.
