Self-defence technique taught at Thai schools to enable girls to fight off sexual harassers

This is a joke. Learning a few techniques over a couple of days is worse than useless--if you want to stop an attacker, you need skills, practice, and a state of mind not native to your average young woman, that is the killer instinct. Without that, any skills are pretty useless, and half-hearted and half-practiced attempts at fighting him/them off will likely just make him/them angrier and make the situation worse.

Much more sensible to work on reducing attacks and teaching young men to respect women more than they do.

Perpetuating the myth that sexual assaults occur when strangers grab girls in the street. The vast majority of sexual assaults occur when the attacker is known to the victim and uses a position of authority or implied authority through demanding the victim's trust to carry out the abuse. This course looks to have been designed by a bloke who has only a distorted and guesswork-like knowledge of this type of crime.

That could be true but if the training helps 1 girl not to get raped, it is helpfull.

And if it leads to increased violence due to poorly-trained victims failing to effect anything and thus further enraging their attackers?
