visa extension from chiang rai

Featured Replies

A big hello and thank you in advance of any replies

because although i became a member on thaivisa in 2006 and got some very good advise from some kind folk on here.

since then most all the information i have needed has been available here without asking a question. this is thanks to the op's hard work:-)

Although i have spent time here in Thai for the last 9 years and im 41 married to my wife from chiang rai

this visit i confess to messing up my visa application from the UK England well trying to save money for us and be clever but im wrong again and Mrs Thai not happy with me!!! help

i arrived on the 28/12/2014 with a single entry tourist visa (60 day) my flight departs on the 30/03/2015

i worked out that the 30th would be 90 days in thai and its not its 2 days over (i have never got that wrong before) ohh

and then i thought i would save money by getting a single entry tourist visa 60 days and then cross mai sai and get visa on arrival g7 no problem 30 days more. ohh

i dont know if i can get visa on arrival by crossing at chiang khong (i have crossed there before but only to get the boat to ventine years ago) and will they give me 30 days

i think i can get an extension of my 60 days visa at 1900 bhat at immigration

not sure where to go for that though

and im going to be two days overstay i think when leaving on the 30th march

like i say any help of my options i know mai sai is a no no now is chiang khong ok to cross to loas and back and then pay the overstay when i fly back from bangkok on the 30th

the least painful way without my wife saying im nor would be nice wish i had just got a double entry visa like normal now but saving money seemed like a good idea at the time .......................

thanks luke

You can apply for a 60 extension instead if the normal 30 day extension to visit your wife. She would need to go with you when you apply. You would need your marriage certificate plus a copy and copies of your wife's house book and ID card.

Or you could apply for a 7 day extension, pay the 1900 baht fee and be given 7 days to leave the country.

Or you could also do an out/in Mae Sai or Chiang Kong for a visa exempt entry since you are not on an exempt entry now.

oh thanks ubonjoe never knew about 60 day extension for spouse visit so that would be at the boarder immigration office in mai sai then. i presume that is more that 1900 bhat then

and the in out is ok for me because i got the tourist visa before entering the kingdom im not doing back to back 30 day visa exemption i see that was worrying me as i read people being refused to cross at mai sai

and some only given 15 days.

the first time i came to Thailand i was on a one week stop over flight as part of a round the world ticket my main stop was Australia to visit my relatives there. i had never traveled outside of the uk before when i got to Bangkok it was a shock to me so i jumped on a plane down to krabi well that was it i fell in love with thailand back then i crossed the border i think 5 times in a row 6 months later i got to oz in time for winter...

You would pay the same 1900 baht fee for the 60 day extension that you would pay for the 30 day extension. The 60 day extension is your best option,
