I have a party coming over and asked for some information. He was interested in knowing the cost of having a tooth implanted.

Short of going through a long drawn out thingy, has anyone had an implant done here in CM and a ball park price for a tooth. First hand info if you can not some hearsay....

Thanks

Elite (pantip plaza) show 46k baht on their website. Had a lot of work done there but no implant-yet! happy with their work. Not the cheapest but then I dont want to go to the cheapest dentist unless also very good.

I am in the finishing stages of two implants. It is a long drawn out procedure if you want a good job. My particular procedure is taking five months start to finish. Total cost MINUS the crowns is 72000 baht. The two crowns will cost either 20000 or 30000 depending on quality. I will go for the lower price as I am already a old timer. The implant specialist at Elite explains everything very well in English.
There is a written guarantee on the implants. No cash back but services at elite will be provided.
Again, not for someone who won't be in Chiang Mai for long.

Empress did a good job for me, I want to say in the 30k baht range. Took a long time. If you talk it over with them, they can give a reasonable time frame. My dad had his done in about 1 week, where as mine might have taken about 8 weeks.

Had one done at a clinic near the railway. It was a disaster, had the problem removed and the implants redone back home.

The quality of surgery was far superior at home, but suspect just a bad surgeon here as others seem have no problems.

Currently getting the crowns done here so saves still quite a bit on the whole process.

Another thing, I went for the best quality Swiss implants at the clinic here, when the surgeon at home had a look he said he'd never seen one like that before so suspect I was charged for the top one and that they put in the cheaper Thai one.

Like Rancid, i also have had an implant at a clinic "near the railway." Don't know if it's the same clinic. It was somewhat cheaper than Chiang Mai Ram, although I noticed that the dentist (not the surgeon) was very keen on finding extra items to pad the bill. I resisted those attempts, but it was hard work.

The implant was three or four months ago and has settled down quite OK.

I haven't had the crown put in yet, and after Rancid's comment, am now thinking I'll get the crown done in Australia, where my insurance will cover the cost of more than half of it. That's when I might find out if the top-tier implant I paid for is also the genuine article.

Buyer beware, as always.

I was quoted 50-60K a few weeks ago. Prices on them haven't come down much on them over the years, unlike Lasik, or computers....They can do it in one day, but a highly respected dentist told me she requires 3 month minimum, and the success rate was about 95%. It has gotten more competitive in the US....that one dentist near Thapae Gate advertises 37K +/-, but I don't know what all that includes.

Amazing how people seem to be spending 50,000+ on implants but they don't know the name of the doctor, can't tell you the name of the clinic and have no real idea where exactly the clinic is located.

All totally believable. wink.png

Quite a way from Chiang Mai but anyone who regularly visits Pattaya may be interested to know that I have just finished having my third implant done at Phyathai hospital in Si Racha.

The total cost for each was 40kB (special fixed price) including crowns, x-rays etc but not including two hospital service charges of 400B each. Each implant took about 3-4 months from start to finish. Compared to their prices for regular dentistry this was very cheap, and the work was done by a specialist implantologist. I would not consider anyone but a specialist for this job.

KK, almost everyone up here goes to Pattaya occasionally, but most won't admit it. Where were your implant posts from? What is the brand? Sounds like a good deal.

No need to go so far for a good implant. Right here at Elite for 45,000. I'm nearly finished with two.

I'm in the process of having two implants done at Dental world (just off the southeast corner of the moat) after a nasty abscess. Due to a required bone implant the whole process will take 8 months due to the required healing time. the cost for the implants is coming in at about 50,000 each. I'm very happy with the progress so far, the dentist explains everything to me in English before each procedure. Been going there three years now and no issues.

BTW the implants are an American brand made there and imported.

I was quoted 200k baht (ouch) for uppers and lowers in BKK

seemed like a lot of money and not that much less than at home in the USA

but what is the cost of the implants ( USA vs European vs ??? ) and is one brand better than the others ?

or is it really the dentist ?

Did you not want to try a dentist that charges less? Elite has fine dentists and are lower in cost. I am almost finished with two and happy so far.

You did not mention how many implants for 200.000. Can't be for all.

what brand Circus? Large post or small?

Ossteen brand. Not sure if the post size changes the price. I think not.

It's been about four years, but the dentist here told me the success rate was better with the larger posts.

I am speaking to an older Korean woman right now who is undergoing a 1 year plan for complete restoration in Seoul. Popular international clinic. Bone graft surgery and gum surgeries. 4 implants, 3 normal crowns, and 4 cosmetic veneers on her front choppers. $10kUSD. She must make several trips to Korea, but it makes Thailand look expensive in comparison, and no doubt she will get quality service and treatments.
