I'm surprised that Google earth and various websites using 'Bang' in stead of 'Ban' while 'ban' means something as 'village' / 'house' / 'houses' right other then 'Bangkok' which I think is one word? Why everyone uses 'Bang' or is it just taking Google as example but would 'Ban' actually be more correct? (and how about Saray versus Saree?) Up north a common word is "Pang" used for a village that was once but a forestry camp. They are all mubaans, with "Baan" being the most generic term used in the name of a settlement. But anyway: sorry for my running gag: yet another example of the transcription chaos in the country. But can not compete with Soi Buakhao (ซอยบัวขาว) in Pattaya. Nothing is perfect not even Google This เสร่ is one of the more tricky syllables ([false] consonant cluster?). The "r" is not silent, implicit "a" between "s" and "r". Listen to this video e.g. (click top start): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-XBNTP0eNY#t=120 Starting from 2:00 min you will hear the correct pronounciation more than once. If you know RTGS and trust that the transliteration is in the RTGS then it isn't necessary. As the latter is rarely advisable, it helps a lot.
