The wife wants this confirmed. If she has a spouse visa for Oz then she can just get a one way and has no need for a return flight? I have said a one way is enough. Agree?

Heres another question. Does she need travel insurance?(more for medical purposes than lost baggage) Or will medicare cover in the need of it? I reckon Medicare is fine for me as i have PR but what about for spouse visa? Needed or not? Comments please?

Jockstar.....she only needs a one way ticket after the approval of the spouse visa, If you were planning a holiday within a year, I would buy a return ticket at that time as a resident return visa will be needed also.

she will be eligble for Medicare, so I wouldnt worry too much on that score.

A one way ticket purchased in Thailand is almost as expensive as a return ticket purchased in Oz.

As all of her future trips out of Oz will require a return ticket, she only needs a one way ticket into Oz to take up residency.

It will take a few weeks for her to receive her Medicare Card from the Government. She will need to apply for it at any Medicare office.

Therefore any medical emergency on board the plane will not be covered unless you specifically take out travel insurance.
