BANGKOK: -- A Chinese robbery gang responsible for the stealing of diamonds from a jewelry shop at Muangthong Thani exhibition hall was arrested yesterday by immigration police at Poipet and sent back to Thailand.

The arrest came after Thai immigration police at Srakaew customs office was alerted by Pakkred police in Pathum Thani at 6.00 pm yesterday to help look for a Chinese gang after stealing diamonds from a jewelry shop at the gems and jewelry exhibition at Muangthong Thani.

Pakkred police said they believed the Chinese gang might use the border customs checkpoint at Klong Luek to escape to Cambodia.

Upon being alerted, all immigration police began checking all border crossing information to Poi Pet from Klong Luek checkpoint.

They came across a group of three Chinese who have just have their passports stamped out. They immediately coordinated the Cambodian immigration police to intercept them.

The Cambodian immigration police later in the night escorted all three Chinese back to the Thai immigration police at Klong Luek checkpoint.

They were later identified as Liun Huaqing, Chen Youxian, and Xiong Huashi. Five carats of diamonds were also seized from their possession.

They were being escorted back to Pakkred police station for charges.

Just a simple question.

Why didn't the Thai police apprehend them but they had to ask the Cambodians to do that and bring them backcrying.gif ?

Or this is too complicated?

They had stamped out of Thailand already.

Hope the shop actually sees what was stolen, they'd be pretty lucky. One can imagine all kinds of scenarios as to how the diamonds were stolen in the first place. Hopefully they learned their lesson, otherwise more thieves will be back and the word on the street in China is probably already that Thai shops are an easy hit.

remember and be nice and respectful to the Chinese tourists when they are in Thailand and help carry their suitcases of swag over the border point and wish them well and a speedy return trip to Thailand and hope their fence gives them the best possible price for their Thailand haul

Hunsa.com say the thieves flew in from Hong Kong 2 days ago and went to the Muangthong Thani exhibition hall to steal the diamonds.
32-year-old Mr Anpret Guman said the three approached him at his booth at the exhibition asking to look at some items of jewellery and while he was distracted swapped the jewellery with fakes and made their escape.

Really who would know when you look t how poorly the storey has been written. It was stated that they had already been stamped through, I suppose that means they had cleared the Thai side of the border and that they had to get assistance from the Cambodian Immigration Police to arrest them. That's the way I read it but then I could be wrong.

I think its great that Thai immigration just called their counterparts across the border and they went and nabbed them and slung em back over the border to Thailand !! no extradition red tape, just...'here you are chaps, jolly glad we could help'......big pat on the back to Poipet immigration (whom I must add have always been really nice and friendly fellas on the many times I've used that border......possibly cos i never argue about the extra 100B tea money !!)

These boys must of had an accomplice based in Thailand somewhere? How would they know to hit that particular spot then they'd need help with the getaway.

This is a annual show and it last a week, maybe they cased the joint out earlier or even a year ago and had already planned their escape route, why would they need help fairly straight forward
