Bangkok True 2.5MB package.

A short while ago a test using Thai Visa bandwidth check = approx 180kbps. I disable my external USB network adapter, Linksys Wireless G (model which is connected via cable and has small antenna etc) and then enabled my internal Dell True Mobile 1300 WLAN card.... now the reading with Thai Visa is 1.71Mbps :o ??

Doing an alternative test here: http://219.93.175.234:8080/speedometer/ gave same result and downloaded the 1MB test file in 8.6 secs.. (951kbps) ???

How can this be? This would be ideal but don't understand why this can be - even connected via LAN was not producing this kind of speed....

Puzzled.

Even the slowest cable LAN is 10Mb/s.

Most are now 100Mb/s and the fastest is 1Gb/s.

Here at home I get 12Mb/s over the wireless connection (g) to my other machine.

hi'

it looks like that it's made for people living in los, in eu site test, I get 6.2mb/s down and 0.85mb/s up, with yours I hardly get over 1500kb/s :o

I use True 2.5mb and my pages load quickly enough, but judging by this reading which is about average after a few tests I am being seriously undercut - or am I?

I'm living just to the west of Pin Klao and in the area I live there is hardly any houses or businesses and even the few that are here I wouldn't imagine them having internet!

Is there something I'm doing to slow all of this down, like I said, my pages are quick but my downloads are agonisingly slow, any tips?

Surely this can't be a bottle-neck issuue...

Is it possible for me to switch to another service half way through my year contract with True? Is it worth switching? Do other providers offer great packages but with only half of the predicted bandwidth??

:o

I wonder what connection that server have??

and guys, what happened to the tele monopoly that was abouot to end this year?

crappy internet in Thai.. still, and the international connection is still even worse I see.

on the speedtest.net I got this:

8/18/2006 10:17 PM GMT 7743 kb/s 875 kb/s 54 ms London ~ 700 mi

not bad ... but its all about connections elsewhere and current load on your connection as you share with alot others.. so speed tests is a stupid thing...

c ya..

You can now check your current international bandwidth here:
