PHUKET: The Australian chief executive officer of an exchange company for Bitcoin cyber currency was killed in a motorcycle accident on Thursday (February 26).

Adam Tepper, the 34-year-old boss of Independent Reserve, was driving at a high speed when his motorbike crashed into a pole not far the intersection of Wiset Road and Sai Yuan Road in Rawai.

Mr Adam’s body was found below a destroyed traffic sign. The motorbike Mr Adam was riding was about 30 metres away.

Police say he was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Independent Reserve chief technology officer Adrian Przelozny confirmed Mr Adam’s death in a statement on the company's website.

"It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you of the death of Adam Tepper," Mr Adrian wrote.

"Adam died in a motorcycle accident on Thursday.

"Adam was a passionate advocate for the use of digital currency in Australia.

"He lived his life to the beat of his own drum and Independent Reserve is a testament to his vision, intelligence and perseverance.

"He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and the Bitcoin community."

Mr Adrian said the funeral will be held in Melbourne on March 6.

According to a biography on the Independent Reserve website, Mr Adam was a graduate of Swinburne University in Melbourne.

He founded a Sydney-based IT consultancy company before heading up Independent Reserve.

The biography said Mr Adam was a keen motorsport enthusiast and an annual participant in the Finke Desert Race.

Some media reports state he ran into a trailer being towed by another vehicle, while this one says he hit a pole.

Does anyone know the actual facts of the accident as it seems another party may be partially to blame?

Damm trees always get in the way,

in Australia it's easy to drive fast,

the roads are good and well maintained

and usually not many people around, high

powered bikes are a norm, in Thailand it's

the reverse. RIP waste of a talented person

who had much to offer, as the song goes

''only the good die young''

Where they don't wear helmets!!!!! No sympathy for riders who don't wear a decent quality helmet!!

No disrespect intended, but the guy may have been a "financial genius", yet totally lacking in common sense. Short pants that look like gym trunks, sneakers, and no frigging helmet.

Sorry, but I find it hard to find any sympathy for people like that.

gee, you are a hard hearted sole

Just1Voice is 'Just Voicing' his opinion - RIP for the man who obviously didn't have any common sense to be riding like that, on maybe unfamiliar roads, not dressed for riding, hell, at least a helmet could have saved his life. If you ask me if I ever ride without a Helmet - the answer in Not NO, but Hell NO!thumbsup.gif

Hope some possible witnesses come forward to tell the story how it really happened.

If anyone really wants to know don't rush to the link, you won't learn anything, but for the curious squeamish, don't worry there are no particularly graphic images.

Thailand + motorcycle + high speed + no helmet = not intelligent.

Definitely a sophism, an error in logic

Not because of these reasons that someone would not be intelligent.

Reckless perhaps, irresponsible maybe. Not intelligent, no.
