Hi everyone...

I'm traveling to Thailand early next year to see my girl friend. She would like to travel here afterwards but would like to know the easiest route to go. I am assuming a travel Visa but she is thinking more along the lines of a marriage type Visa?

I think that I probably already answered my own question through the search function. I have to say, this is the first forum I've been on where the search function actually works like it's supposed to. :o

If anyone has any other input though, it would still be appreciated.

Jamie,

I am currently married to a Thai woman. However, one year ago while i was still living in the states..we tried to get her over here on a tourist visa. It got denied. Unfortunately almost all single Thai woman traveling alone will get denied. They simply think that they wont return. Im not saying dont try but to give her the best shot she has to prove her incentives to return. Letters from employers, schools, or family. It is all about proving her ties here in thailand and why she would return.

The other options are fiancée or spouse visa. I am currently filing to bring over my wife and soon born son, I hear the latest quote for applications to be processed is about 6 months. If you bring her over on a fiancée visa you have 90 days to marry her or she has to go back.

Your wife was probably denied the tourist visa because it looked like she was trying to avoid the normal immigration process and would stay.

Your blanket statement that a single Thai woman is almost always denied is not true. There are least 6 single Thai women (25-40 year old) in my office that have 10 year US visas. A working middle class Thai woman will generally not have a problem, since it is fairly easy to prove they intend to return.
