It's an unwritten rule in Hollywood that all movies set in Thailand must suck.

* The Beach

* Brokedown Palace

* Kickboxer

* The Hangover II

* Street Fighter (2009)

* Rambo (2007)

* Bangkok Dangerous

This film has been in the can for a while now. Wonder what negotiations went on to have the name changed from The Coup.

By the way, the opening part of the trailer shows Khmer writing, not Thai, so some of it must have been filmed in Khmerland.

wasn't negotiations that brought about the name change. was that some of the more simple test screening audiences didn't understand what the word 'coup' meant.

Since when did a movie title have to make sense? Think of your favorite movies and ask yourself how much the titles told you about the movies.

I suspect the problem was that the movie sucked, but the studio didn't want to admit that.

Marlon Brando was well matched to play the main role in: 'The Ugly American' - an immediate-post-ww2 coup-like drama, filmed in LOS, but seemingly forgotten?

Quite a few CM expats were extras in the movie,. I know one that had a prominent role as an extra, if that makes sense.

Don't get your hopes up. When Air America came to town to shoot there were plenty of us who got paid around 400 to get a military style haircut and show up as extras. I can think of only two who actually could be clearly seen in the released film. But since hair cuts could be had for 30 baat, I for one had no complaints.
