SURAT: -- Narcotic suppression police arrested three drug traffickers after a brief gun duel at a hotel in Surat Thani province on Thursday night.

Police said they received a tipoff that a notorious drug trafficker known as “Yak Tapet” had checked into a room at AR Garden hotel on Kanchanadit road.

As they encircled the room and shouted for occupants inside to surrender, the notorious trafficker opened the door and opened by St the officers.

Shootout broke out and ended short afterwards when the traffickers agreed to surrender.

Yak Tapet or Kamsing Butrtong, his wife Patcharee, and another drug suspect Narin Wichaidit were arrested. A loaded .38 revolver and his motorcycle were confiscated.

Narcotic police said Yak was wanted for several drug and attempted murder cases.

No drugs were found and police suspected they might dispose of the drugs before the shooting broke out.
