china eastern or cathay pacific to USA?

i'm looking at flights to san francisco and china eastern is 25000, cathay pacific is 31000

i'm pretty sure cathay pacific is a lot nicer but is it worth the extra 6000 baht each? i want cheap so can put up with some shit unless china eastern is just hell in the sky. anyone know

also, what about changeability of dates if it becomes necessary. which is likely better to deal with?

china eastern is through shanghai and layover only 5hrs so not bad

if your buddy is ok with it that's good enough for me (that and the 6000baht x2 saving)

as the OP is on a budget as he says, he should be able to endure the China Eastern flight. It is certainly one of the least-preferred Airlines for a reason, but 6K are 6K. and they usually arrive at their assigned destination.....

Oh, I LOVE Cathay Pacific, but their tickets come with a price-Tag. Used Oneworld Miles last your to fly business LAX - HKG with them and was fantastic.

China Eastern is fine. I flew this route a few months ago with no problems.

I actually fell asleep in Shanghai and missed the connecting flight. I spent a day touring around Shanghai for a few hours. The airline was very helpful and put me on the next flight at no extra charge.

With regards changeability, if you are travelling on the cheapest ticket then changing things with any airline will probably involve extra charges.

Each tickets have their own rules. No changes allowed, change at usd75 cost, change free of charge, ticket validity 30days or 1 year? Best to check these before you book.
