Chatuchak market

Featured Replies

Any BM familiar with the market? I need a Levi jacket, the dark blue type and was wondering if they sell them there. I don't really want to go there on spec as it is too hot for me to be wandering around aimlessly. Any help appreciated.

i always thought that was the appeal of markets getting out there and bargain hunting all part of the experience

i think you need to turn down the air con go enjoy tongue.png

Not for me. If I need something specific then that is what I require, no need to go and look at all the tat and junk but I may be different to most.

Different to most you must surely be. So you want to go to one of the biggest markets in the world which has rat runs galore, and expect to just be able to walk in, go to a certain stall, then walk out again.

Good luck with that.

Horrible place, it and the BTS there is infested with pickpockets and the prices are no cheaper, and often higher than elsewhere. I would never go there again for anything.

If you want to shop in air conditioned comfort, head over to BTS National Stadium Station and shop the far end of MBK mall. (That is, the end of the mall farthest from the BTS exits)

It's got as much or more clothing than Chatuchak and it's nice and cool. Still jam packed with tourists and local shoppers on weekends, but A/C is nice.

To the OP: Yes, there are stalls selling blue jeans jackets and pants, etc., pretty much near the end you would enter if you took the BTS to Moh Chit and walked down. Go prepared to ask in Thai for what you want. And bargain. The place is expensive if you don't, dirt cheap if you do.

Instead of telling the OP what he should or shouldn't do I'd concentrate on the question

I am almost certain you can find that but I am not sure where. There are map boards around telling you which part of the market has what kind of products in it.

You can go and get what you want and leave if you like, not sure why that's odd to people. Up to him

However, for 'cheaper' or even more convenient I'd maybe look around Pratunam but if Chatuchak is where you want to go I am positive you will find what you like, check a few stalls out though, sell similar stuff but compare, etc

I do love a dose of irony.

Even if you find it in the right size it will probably be inferior quality like everything else there.

Bought a lovely one at MBK. Just the job.

So what was the point of starting the thread ?

  • Author

The point was about buying a Levi jacket at a certain location. A BM mentioned MBK so I took that information and went there instead of the market. So the objective was achieved none the less. If you missed the point try to keep up.

The point was you asked about buying a jacket at the market. If you wanted to know the best place to buy a jacket you could have asked that.

It would have also saved us from getting scolded by Razzler1973.

Do keep up.

The point is, have you never changed your mind? No point in keeping this repertoire going as you are obviously not paying attention so will be unable to keep up or answer questions so save your rhetoric for another day or poster.
