Loads of Aussie bands that no-one has mentioned.

Cold chisel, Aussie crawl, Rose tattoo, Midnight oil, etc. etc.

Plus a few other lesser known.

Pink floyd, U2, Deep purple, Fleetwood mac, acdc......

I can't believe no-one has confessed to Susan Boyle or Liberachi.[/quote

Sipi Susan is one of our finest artist that came from one of the greatest british TV shows britain's got talent. The finest winner of that show and by far the greatest entertainers that ever graced this earth are a Greek father and son team. Stavros flatly. I can't post videos but I'm sure you can help me out.

I just watched Stavros Flatley on you-tube. Ireland meets Greece meets England. They are up there with Devo.

Please post the video.

Just for you Leo. A short clip..

Oh gees, a overweight, shirtless, tattooed guy in a mini skirt?????? I bet he would get some welcome in Pattaya.

He would make one of the sexpats there look like a young Elvis.

I was at Butlins I think it was early 70's I was meant to go watch the magic man but snuck in to see these with my parents as they were big fans.

I recall my dad asking me to get there autograph afterwards which I did. Lovely man as well as a great singer.

The Eric Clapton concert was a double bill with Elton. My ex spent most of it in the toilets suffering from heat, marijuana and beer exhaustion. I just left him there and danced by myself. That was about 20 years ago.

Ones i would like to see are - Red Hot Chili Peppers and George Michael.

And yes, talking about Flatley, i have seen Riverdance!! And i forgot Tina Turner in my list.

Springsteen was the most for your bucks though. 3.5 hours of sheer bliss. Have a peek at my "For Sheryl" thread in ladies!!

Iron Butterfly

Righteous Bros

Quick eclectic list - there's more

After seeing and listening to Elvis and Roy Orbison, it must have been some comedown seeing and listening to Elton John.
EJ put on a good show....only time I've seen a piano played upside down....it was a giant sing along - we were on the lawn so not in the melee at the stage front - which was a strange mix of folks....was only about 8 rows back from Roy....what vocal power!!!!!

A EJ they had that bald guy on the conga drums that seems to play for the elite talents....never stopped and took center stage at the half way point/break and put on a 1/2 hour unrelenting show on the drums....had to be coked up....don't know how he did it.....was almost a show himself....he seems to pick and choose who he plays for.....

Great to see so many have lived it up and been to some really great concerts.

I think to see a band perform live is a great experience.

I do feel the best band I have see would be The Rolling Stones. Packed concerts. The atmosphere always great.

The price of tickets these days do seem more prohibitive when you take in travel and food too.

I saw a lot at Newcastle Arena & Newcastle city hall. Both small enough venues to make it feel more intimate.

Yet, to be somewhere like Sheffield arena with tens of thousands of other people all crammed in like sardines to watch the Rolling Stones will always be one of my favourite concerts.

As these great bands die away and we are left with many mundane 'pop' groups, I feel younger generations are going to be missing out on some fantastic times.

Great posts guys n gals. Keep them coming smile.png

What about television concerts or top of the pops? anyone been to something like that too?

The problem is the price. Most on my list i saw at open air four day festivals. Simpy Red the ticket was about 50 quid and then there was the train to Montreux, drinkys and the train back.

But then there is the atmosphere of the Montreux Festival that just takes away the money probs!! It was a "if you can't afford it don't go" attitude. I could afford and did go. The vibe and the views are out of this world.

Bruce, on the other hand. I would have sold my mother to see him. It was expensive, around 100 pounds for the ticket. But you get your moneys worth with the hours that he was there and it was only four bus stops away from my place. And the beers were around the same price as if you had gone down the pub. All in all a cheaper night than going to Montreux.

A few years ago, in the Summer, i was sitting at my computer in front of my open window. I could hear Dire Straits music. It worked out Sting was doing a concert in the stadium across town and the way the wind blowed everyone could hear him.

For the French speakers among you - I also heard Jonny Halliday the same way. I closed the window that night!!

The most disappointing concert i went to was, unfortunately, REM. Everybody was expecting to sing along and dance to all of their wonderful songs. All they did was play their new album and as the encore gave us a wee bit of the old REM.

I would have liked to have seen INXS.

Patsycat, if you wanted to hear real music and great singing, the place to be back in the eighties was the Country Music Festival at Wembley Arena every easter.

I bet you like Steve Earle, he was with the Pogues at one time, born in America to Irish parents.

Great stuff, Patsycat.

I'd ask, how many concerts a year would you go to at £100 a time + travel?

At Newcastel Arena, for example Mark Knopfler is playing soon @ £45. Simply Red £45.

Newcastle City Hall have Simple Minds starting @ £41.50. UB40 @ 332.50. Moody Blues £41.50.

Personally, I'd go see The Moody Blues at that price. The others do nothing much for me except maybe Mark Knopfler

The WHO on the other hand at Hyde Park in London are £77. Now that would be worth it but have to travel 500 mile round trip. That would more than double the price even with discounted fares.

The WHO in San Diego for example, tickets start @ $35 U.S. What a difference in price!!

Dare I say rip off Britain LOL

Dont be silly. It was a great concert in a football stadium. I enjoyed it. Imagine - two great stars together. And he buggers off to the toilet during Cocaine. And when Elton was singing Candle in the Wind i was actually down on my hands and knees in the Gents toilets trying to get him out of there.

The train journey home was a bit stilted. The poor bastard couldn't handle the pot. And i told him to take just one or two puffs. But no, he smoked the whole damn lot. But i did buy a t shirt. Which i wore the next day to the pub. And he had no recollection at all of being at that concert. Even though we had got a train, bus etc.

Simple Minds were here in Geneva last month - sadly i couldn't go - the tickets were around 30 pounds. Whereas, James Taylor (another on my list) the tickets were around 80 to 100 squid. But he was playing in a large theatre, and it was sitting down only.

It all depends. For me, i like to be outside at concerts. Seeing fat Axl Rose inside was good but probably not as good as if he had been outside. Also, with outside four day festivals - you can potter around and find bands in other places that you may not have heard of.

Perhaps my list is not long enough because i can't remember the names of the unheard of bands that i have enjoyed. They all deserve a smile.

And, no, i do not dress like a throwback hippie.

Google Paleo Festival in Switzerland. That is where i have seen most of the people on my list. I actually did it and Wikkied the years and concerts!! A few years ago we would camp there and just forget the day to day life. And what fun we had.

Nowadays, its all money money money. We can't camp unless we have a ticket etc. And the tickets are pricey. So, we just go to the area before the camping and party there. I have been left sitting there for three hours with four dogs.

And one thing that floored me there, Bob Dylan was supposed to play. He got sick and cancelled. So they asked the Red Hot Chili Peppers to step up. Those bastards wanted 1 million dollar each to come and play at our wonderful venue.

No way.

Just Google Paleo Festival Switzerland. And if any of you are in the vicinity around the end of July. PM me-
