Could someone recommend me a clinic/hospital for blood work?

Featured Replies

I live near ninman road

Just wanting to get a blood test for my hormones(total testosterone, free testosterone, estrogen levels) and cholesterol/liver values/kidney function.

Preferably something fast in and out, price is not an issue.

Thank you everyone!

Go to RAM that's not far from you.

Ground floor near the cashiers you will see the room where they do the blood work etc.

Just go in there and explain what you want.

A blood test for what i mentioned in the states is about <$40-60 .

Will it be less here in Thailand ?

Sriphat (private hospital within Chiang Mai University public hospital) charged me ThB 400 for bloods analysis [April 2014] as part of a review of my chest complaint. I'm pretty sure it included liver functions and all the standards and that price included a sputum analysis which you don't need. The report back was oral as part of the lung condition analysis (doctor's fee was very reasonable - would not expect this to be more than a couple of hundred baht if they insisted that you needed a doctor's involvement for just bloods).

If you want a written report/print out (I would recommend that in normal circumstances) you can generally expect to pay more - maybe double - I am speculating.

Bumrungrad (notoriously expensive/prestige Bangkok hospital) charged me ThB 1,550 for bloods analysis with full reporting to me and my UK specialist.

Hope that gives you an idea of possible min and max!

I thought Sriphat was excellent btw - find my posting on this thread (post #142):

Just had blood test done with written report for kidney function in the Ram. Results in 1 hour 301B

CMF Lab, close to the SE corner of the moat......they have FB page...CBC is 100 THB; they email you report in English n less than 1 hour, if you don't want to wait. I like to avoid hospitals.

I couldn't help but notice you stated price was not an issue in your first post.

Hey guys, did you note that the OP is also asking about testing for hormone levels in addition to the more standard testing for liver/kidney/cholesterol? Did the places you mentioned and the prices you quoted include hormone testing?

Seeing as how the OP has posted earlier threads about where to find a good gym to pursue his bodybuilding hobby and where to find a cheap pharmacy to buy hormones, it's good to see him pursuing testing to monitor what he's doing to his body.

Yes the Ram does as I had that test done there 3 years ago.

Not in my case

All those tests the op wants are going to cost more than that. I had a whole battery of blood test last year and payed 2,500 baht.

@NancyL Thank you. I do blood tests every 3 months. It's my time to do it again. If you are smart in this lifestyle of mine you are smart enough to be concerned about longevity =)

@Santisuk Thank you ! I'll get one of my girlfriends to help me out with directions

I would certainly recommend you contact CM Mediclinic. You can book appointments online on their website - http://www.cmmediclinic.com/appointment.html

Have had blood work done there, alot cheaper than the hospitals and very good service.

Where are they located?

EDIT: Never mind, found them.

When you are just wanting a procedure or test done (at a private hospital) it is important to check whether they are going to insist on you seeing a doctor first.

In two instances in the last 6 months I wanted just a CT scan to send to my pulmonologist in the UK and then a few months later a sputum analysis. Two seperate hospitals, Bumrungrad and then Ubonrak in Ubon insisted on me seeing their 'specialist' doctor first. Softie me said OK then, as it seemed the only way to get the bit I wanted without shopping around.

In the first instance the doctor 'got interested' in my case and charged 6k baht additional for doctor consultations and an unnecessary additional X-Ray. To be fair he spent a good couple of hours with me over two days (yes really - seemed to want to usurp a Cambridge specialist who spends his life treating lymphomas, whereas he clearly had no real experience of lung lymphomas) and his thoughts about lungs in general were marginally useful. Second doctor was a GP type and had not even heard what a lung lymphoma was (he wrote it down so he could educate himself later - still wanted to do an X-Ray and give me a prescription for a hugely expensive antibiotic. Only 1,500 baht on top of the service I wanted this time!

Should have charged them in reverse for educating them. I'm sure you are not all as soft a touch as I am but just a warning in case not. Of course some procedures are going to need a doctor's input but if you don't think you need that in your circumstances, best to try to find a lab with no doctors who will take instructions from you directly.
