UDD wants a role in the DSI's probe into the 2010 anti-government protests

BANGKOK: -- The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) has demanded a parallel panel to be set up to investigate the anti-government red-shirt protests in 2010.

UDD core leader Natthawut Saikua said that he would lead key members of the red-shirt movement to the Department of Special Investigation next week to demand that the UDD be allowed to take part in the investigation.

The participation in the probe can be in the form of setting up a parallel investigation team or the UDD can coordinate closely with the DSI throughout the investigation to ensure transparency.

The UDD’s move was in response to the DSI’s decision to set up a new team to investigate the incident five years ago.

Natthawut said that the UDD wanted to have a role in the probe by the DSI because former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva claimed that three army generals at the time of the protests namely General Prayut Chan-ocha, General Prawit Wongsuwan and General Anupong Paochinda were fully aware of all aspects of the protests and the government’s responses to the protests.

"Nattawut co-organised the mass protests in 2009 and, together with the other UDD heads, led the "Red Shirts" in the fierce protests from March to May 2010 that led to the bloody military crackdowns of April and May.[2] Nattawut, Jatuporn Prompan and other Red-Shirt leaders surrendered themselves to police to prevent further bloodshed during the violent military crackdown on 19 May 2010.[4] Afterwards, Nattawut was prosecuted on terrorism charges.[2] He was released on bail terms on 22 February 2011.[5]"

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nattawut_Saikua

and yet now in the OP "UDD core leader Natthawut Saikua said that he would lead key members of the red-shirt movement to the Department of Special Investigation next week to demand that the UDD be allowed to take part in the investigation."

Why would a UDD-leader want the UDD to be part of the DSI investigation, into events which they are alleged to have help organise, and for which he had been prosecuted for terrorism following his actions ?

Obviously because he wants to get to the truth, of what he & his fellows did, nothing to do with ensuring that nothing embarassing comes out ! wink.png

Yay for Reds 'fighting for justice' ! facepalm.gif

and in related news, a fox demanded that he & his fellows should have oversight, into the 'Hen-Coop Massacre' investigation ! laugh.png

Hang on a minute... when Methee was arrested driving around in his car in Bangkok with Tavors and M16s which he had "confiscated" from troops on 10 April, he folded and gave a statement that it was Natthawut who had given the orders to instigate violence.

Of course Natthawut denied this, and Jatuporn denied Methee's claims that Jatuporn had him threatened in attempt to get him to change his story... but how can anyone with as much incriminating evidence against them as Natthawut (above is one piece of many, and this one didn't even come from his own mouth) POSSIBLY demand any role into investigations in which they are the accused? Madness!

But, I suppose, in a world where those who question the "official 9/11 story" (which, as it happens, is physically impossible) are labelled by the US government as "terror risks", and GW Bush was allowed to give a statement in the "investigation" in secret, not under oath and behind closed doors... madness is the direction in which the world seems to be going.

"...... during a preparatory rally in Chantaburi province on January 27, UDD leader Nuttawut Saikua warned: “If [the government] takes control [of the Red Shirt camp], we will burn the whole country. Burn it all down, I will take the responsibility. If they want to arrest or whatever, they can come to me. If they seize control, burn!”

Now is the time.

I suppose there will be five or less key members. I like his choice of words "demand" and I'm sure PM Prayut likes it more than I do.

The reason you can't see the military doing the investigation is because it's the DSI doing the investigation. Good, right?

Come on Ale - you know that the Shin supporters think the PM makes every decision, about everything. They are so used to Thaksin doing that for the Shin clan gang. Old days, Tarit wouldn't even decide to fart without asking the boss. New lady DSI boss is the real deal. They can't understand that.

And the Shins red shirt insurgents and black shirt mercenaries were totally peaceful innocent citizens.

It will be called "The counter investigation propaganda team.".

I think they are worried about the truth which will come out from the investigation. They know what it is as well as the rest of us who are not blinded by hate, greed and jealousy.

Of course it was just a minority of hard-core red-shirts and paid mercenaries who caused all the trouble : I feel very sorry for those who got caught up in the middle of someone else's political game and paid the price.

But they should realise that they were put there in a cold-blooded, pre-meditated plan in which their death was supposed to cause a peoples uprising so that someone could arrive at the airport to cheering masses like he has seen on TV and his ego wants so much.

Be careful what you wish for red terrorists - of course you will have a roll - preferably in court facing charges

" Natthawut Saikua said that he would lead key members of the red-shirt movement to the Department of Special Investigation next week to demand that the UDD be allowed to take part in the investigation."

Doesn't he know that all suspects ultimately do take part in an investigation.

All he needs to do is be patient.

They'll get round to him and his fellow stormtroopers soon enough.

exactly right on

It's ironic they now want to nominate themselves as part of law enforcement because their good friend Tarrit and numerous others have been removed from their posts

These people really have a warped sense of reality, next they'll be wanting to be nominated as judges in their own courts lol
