BKKdreaming
I like to sit on the steps of 7-11 and watch the tour buses full of Chinese and Korean tourists enjoy BKK, They forgot to read TV and how bad BKK is now compared to 10 years ago
ChiangmaiRob
Family mart on the entry to Soi Twilight. Everything a man needs in one convenient location. What more could a guy ask for? One thing I do bring though is my own Magnum's. The lady boys tend to be well endowed. Well endowed ... is that up top or down below?

Whereas Magners is a popular cider brand. So if one is drinking Magnums, perhaps that's why you were responding to posts about ladyboys...

MauiSteveBKK
My FAV Places To Hang: + Strikers on Soi 4. + Outside bar at El Gaucho (Soi 17-20 or so) + Saxophone next to Victory Monument + Tawandang -- certainly for a great night of live music, comedy, and towers of beer. + Drink at Sheraton riverfront. + Spanky's at Nana Plaza. Watch the Germans & Russians get crazy. + There's several "sports bars" along Sukhumvit Road on the "Odd Side" of the road. + Charlie Brown Mexican food at Soi 11 or Soi 13. In courtyard. + Outside - food and drink -- Landmark. Sukhumvit Road about Soi 12 - 16 or so. That's all I got. Best wishes.

Water Buffalo
I miss Bangkok. Too Easy Pub on the first little lane (on the right) off Sukhumvit Soi 22 - All beer 80 baht, including Beer Laos. A/C. Can smoke inside. Customers choose the tunes. Shag Bar 2 on Sukhumvit Soi 20 (i think). A couple of fun fat sisters "work" there. Ratchada Soi 3 (MRT Phra Ram 9) has a few cool little bars and the street has a particularly naughty feel. I think it's a common living place of hookers and definitely ladyboys. Good people watching. The Players between Sukhumvit 12-14 is good if you want a game of pool and have nobody to play with. The girls in there are decent pool players. It ain't cheap though for the type of place. Robin Hood for traditional pub atmosphere and competitive prices. Soi 7/1 - fun soi. Spanky's Bar on Sukhumvit Soi 13 is fine during happy hour. Around 70 baht a bottle. Quiet pub to chat up the barmaid in. That American Diner Place (forgot the name) beside Insomnia nightclub near Sukhumvit Soi 10. Cheap food and cocktails. Can sit outside while contemplating life. McDonald's at Asoke gets quite interesting after dark, lol. Not really a hang out spot though. That American Grill Place (the one which advertises on here) opposite Lotitas just off Soi 8 does a good burger and it's convenient. Water Buffalo
Be careful with the lasagne. When i had it, it tasted good but the pasta layers were cold and the meat layers piping hot. Not a good experience. Taste was fine, but not heated up properly.

meltingpot2015
Once you been to your favourite place and had a few, then decide to go home on the last train of the Bangkok BTS skytrain, remember to get off at the correct stop, otherwise you may wake-up (or be woken-up) in Mo Chit, or worse...Bearing. Mcffee
Starbucks in Terminal 21 for babe-spotting. The following put me off the place for about a month though: One evening this gorgeous Thai babe happened to be seated at the table next to mine scribbling with pen on paper. I screw up my courage to the sticking point and say to her it's refreshing to see someone write and not tap. She looks up at me like I'd just crawled out of her croissant but deigns to answer in perfectly accented English, "I am writing poetry." That's all the opening I need. I tell her I love poetry, had a minor in literature in college, still read in my spare time and ask what she's writing about. She answers it's about the pain chicken feel when farmers take away their eggs to sell. I didn't know what to say. I think I nodded, finished my cappuccino and left quickly. To this day I have no idea if she was serious or yanking my chain.

Rumblecat
Yeah, this thread could easily double as a 'worst bars in Bangkok' thread. Don't see the point on wasting time in horrible shitty English style pubs in sexpat areas when there's so many better places across the city. On the brighter side Sky Bar and Bistro at Vanilla Moon is really nice, good range of drinks and cocktails, decent food and a band at the weekends, good crowd. Bad Motel's alright too. Junker and Bar round Suan Phlu way, although the midnight closing isn't great, but Smalls is just few doorways away.
RT555
Burger King/Mc Donalds is garbage. Try having a burger in singapore or Hong Kong-------it will be totally different------it will be hot, tasty and not loaded with dripping ketchup. I sent Thai Burger King/ Mc Donalds messages stating this...but still crappy burgers at both. Carl's Jr. is MUCH better if going for fast food outlet. the burger king on s-line
