Being an apple user I'm totally clueless on this windows machines and asking for some guidance.

I am looking for a small notebook, to use while touring on my motorbike bike. They used to be called netbooks, I don't know if the term still applies.

It needs to be cheap and small, with around 250-500GB storage, maybe SSD - Its primarily for surfing the net in the hotel (Wifi), planning routes, storing DV footage ( USB ports ) and watching 720p movies in the downtime.

What would best suit my needs and whats a good price ? Is the IT mall at Big C the place to look ?

Try a 10" Asus T100. You can pick one up at Power Buy and probably IT Mall for under 13,000 baht.

You can up the size to 11" for a little more choice. There is an Acer of that size similar price, don't know the model number.

Was about to suggest a Chromebook but they tend to have much lower storage than you mention.

That said, you could combine with an external drive - even a thumb drive, which are big these days, easy to get a couple of 128gb ones. You don't need ssd to store movies, there is no benefit to doing this - it's a different story if you are editing footage, but you don't mention this.

Thanks! Thats correct, no need to edit footage - its just to store video off the cards at the end of the day.

Wow! The Haier chromebook is well under budget .. where can I find one ? - If the storage isn't unto the quota a couple of flash drives would be perfect.

I had a look-see down at the IT shops and I saw that the small netbook style is not in favour these days and the acers were around 14k which is more than i wanted to pay. The reason i mentioned a SSD is because I thought it would be safer when the computer is sitting in the top box all day.
