UK visit visa - application times

Featured Replies

Can anyone advise on how far in advance of your intended visit, you can fill in the online visa application and then once filled in and printed, how far in advance to your intended travel can you book an appointment to submit the application?

It is a couple of years since we last applied for a UK Family visit visa, but if the same time scale applies, you can ask to have the visa post dated by up to 3 months and the appointments, which you can access after the on-line application is submitted, only shows appointments up to 2 weeks ahead. How far ahead of your visit you make the on-line application would also depend upon the processing time, which can be found from the web site.

You can see appointments more than 2 weeks ahead.

Booked on 25th March for an appointment on 23rd April. I could also see dates for May and I think June too.

You can still have the visa post dated 3 months although there have been reports of this being missed so if you do that make sure that it is a very prominent note in the application. Visa turn round times have been very good this year so far...we were 3 weeks for a settlement visa but the staff at Trendy Building will probably say the application will take 3-4 months. It all makes the planning a bit tricky.
