Thai DL Checklist. Courtesy of Pattaya ExPats Club, so includes info not required at every DLT.

But if you bring all Docs shown, should be good to go anywhere

My one-year licence was issued in Nakhon Phanom, but I shall be in Prachuab Khirikhan when it expires. Is it possible to apply for the first five-year extension in a province other than the one in which the licence was issued? I looked on the driving sub-forum for an answer, but there are so many posts that I couldn't find the information I needed.

I just got my first Thai car and motorbike licences issued in Chiang Mai and both are valid for 2 (two) years. I initially tried at the Banglamung office but was turned away and told I needed a copy of my UK licence, certified by the UK Embassy in Bangkok, with the woman telling me that was the law now. I was travelling to CM anyway so went there and got them no problem and no certified copy required.

For those wondering, yes my licences are valid for 2 years, something I had never heard about before but the nice lady in the CM office said I could have them for 2 years because of my circumstances. wai.gif
