Medical volunteers to Nepal

I was just told by my wife that the Ministry of Health has send a memo to all the hospitals in Thailand, asking for volunteer doctors, nurses and paramedics to be send to Nepal.

They will provide transportation

BUT

They have to provide their own camping equipment and also each team to provide their own electricity generator.

Is this common in other counties when they send volunteers or it's just Thailand?

I'm not sure, that's why I'm asking.

Thailand only,volunteers from other nations when needed get basic supplies like tenting/bedding etc.

Sounds most unlikely to me. Has Mrs Costas actually seen the memo, or could there be some miscommunication?

the problem is, Now there is a back log of planes waiting to land bringing Emergency equipment.

You'd imagine the Thai Army would happily lend them a few tents and generators....or perhaps the Boy Scouts could do it.
