on the verge of mango rains,

the thirsty land's voice

sings of ache for wet


thunder in early evening,

small showers' fierce tease

just hinting at flood


a great passion paused:

all the frogs waiting,

the flowers eager to bloom;


air's clean in early morning,

red-orange blossoms

crowning the tree-tops


what comes comes slower

than your expectations' dream,

and that can't be helped

... of course the term "haiku" is used (or mis-used) very liberally here to mean only stanzas of three lines, where two lines have five syllables, and one line has seven ...
