Appeal Launched for British Teacher Gravely Injured in Thailand Crash
Why is his visa status relevant ? It seems he was running his own business - so no insurance through a school. Its not clear if had insurance that was capped, or if he did not carry insurance at all - which of course is foolish, but a lot of folk are in that situation, including many on this forum. There is no information that suggests he was riding without a helmet or unlicensed - like another poster you are alluding to something in a vacuum of information. -

Bet your bottom baht: Phuket cops cash in on secret gambling bust
Thalang Police swooped on an underground gambling ring in Srisoonthorn, Phuket, arresting 11 people during a targeted raid led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Suchart Luecha. The operation took place at a worker’s residence in Village 4, Srisoonthorn, yesterday, November 19, resulting in a high-profile haul and hefty charges for those involved. Among the arrested were nine women and two men, all identified by the police. The female suspects include 53 year old Chabaprai Kamnamchan of Thepkrasattri subdistrict, who now faces an additional charge as the alleged organiser. Others arrested were 43 year old Apichanya Phumipan from Cherng Talay, 54 year old Wasukan Champiklang from Roi Et, 60 year old Sai Inphuwa of Thalang, 67 year old Pimchan Thepkorat from Bueng Kan, 54 year old Aphinphon Thapsuri of Khon Kaen, 61 year old Kraisak Kaewprasit from Phuket, 46 year old Rasami Unwiset of Bueng Kan, and 45 year old Boonchia Pongchaichom from Nakhon Phanom. The two men taken into custody were 57 year old Surasak Petchrat from Nong Khai and 53 year old Surakarn Dason from Khon Kaen. Police officers seized essential gambling paraphernalia at the scene, including a Hi-Lo betting board, a tile saucer and cover, a set of dice, and 1,310 baht in cash. The accused have been charged with collaborating with others to gamble (Hi-Lo) and bet on property without permission. Police have warned that this crackdown is part of an ongoing effort to dismantle illegal gambling networks in Phuket, urging others to take heed as they enforce a zero-tolerance policy. For Kamnamchan, the alleged organiser, the repercussions could be severe, as additional penalties may be sought. This raid stands as a stark reminder of the risks associated with illicit gambling and the vigilance of local law enforcement, reported Phuket News. RFK Jr.’s Appointment to Health Post Risks Breaking Medicine’s First Rule
Start with pharmaceutical companies who worked hand-in-hand with government agencies to promote an mRNA shot with no long-term safety or efficacy testing as "Safe and Effective?" Just, "Shut-up and take the shot, you won't get Covid," and yet - virtually everyone got Covid. "First, do no harm." Exactly. Start by getting to the bottom of the fascistic public-private partnerships between government regulators and pharmaceutical corporations they "regulate" followed by investigations into the revolving door between government agencies executives in regulatory agencies and lucrative "retirements" once out of government and hired as employees of the corporations they supposedly regulated. Sounds more like a reward. I want to see the Trump's Department of Health and the DoJ get to the bottom of regulatory capture in the pharmaceutical industry. Then let's see how "Do no harm" has been handled since March 2020. -

Thailand partners with Turkey to build high-speed rail empire
Thailand is gearing up to transform its rail landscape by partnering with Turkey’s state-owned train manufacturer, Türasaş, in a bold step towards high-speed travel. Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit revealed on Monday, November 18, that the collaboration aims to boost Thailand’s transport sector and establish a domestic rail manufacturing industry. During his recent visit to Türasaş’s Sakarya facility in Turkey, Suriya held discussions with Türasaş CEO Osman Boyraz. “Thailand will need to procure many locomotives and trains in the future, and the ability to design and manufacture trains locally with world-class technology will be crucial.” This partnership is set to equip Thailand with critical expertise to build a cost-effective and efficient high-speed rail network that’s fit for the future. Turkey’s Türasaş, known for its work with top rail companies like Hyundai, Alstom, and Siemens, has proven expertise in cutting production costs by using 75% locally sourced parts, slashing expenses by up to 20% compared to imported options. The company’s track record includes developing an electric train with Blue Engineering in 2019, achieving speeds of 160 kilometres per hour to meet European standards. The collaboration aligns with Thailand’s ambitious infrastructure plans, including the Bangkok-Nakhon Ratchasima line, part of a dual-track system linking major cities, said Deputy Prime Minister Suriya. “This project will boost the economy and make Thailand a regional transport hub.” With its status as a regional automotive powerhouse, Thailand brings expertise in components and skilled labour to the table, making it well-suited for a burgeoning rail industry. This joint venture not only promises to bolster the State Railway of Thailand (SRT)’s income through local sales and exports but could also carve out new opportunities for local parts manufacturers, setting the stage for sustainable growth in Thailand’s rail sector, reported The Nation.
