Thanks in advance for any help I get with the following questions.

I recently bought a second hand vehicle in Bangkok. I've had 2 stories from friends about what I should do with the registration. I live in Pattaya which is in Chonburi Province.

1. Leave it registered in Bangkok.

Does this incur any hassle when renewing the annual road tax on the vehicle ? Can I do this in Pattaya or would I need to go to Bangkok every year?

2. Transfer the registration to Chonburi.

Can this be done from the Land Transport Office in Pattaya or do I need to take the car to Bangkok or Chonburi? Does anyone know the procedure for doing this? I believe new number plates are part of the deal.

Does anyone know of any advantages or disadvantages of transferring the registration province?

Leave it. Unless its a Northern Area Drugy Plate. theres no point. I had a C.M. plate and got pulled over just for that, the cops told me The Change over is easy, and about 35 Mins to press your new plates. They keep the old ones so make sure they come off easy .coffee1.gif

If your name is in the blue book...then leave it registered in Bangkok.

To change to Chonburi plates you have to go to Chonburi DLT at least twice Pattaya DLT won't do change of province

Will I be able to pay the Road Tax at Pattaya Land Transport office?

Yes you can pay tax and insurance at any DLT.

Also in Pattaya you can go to Big C South Pattaya upatairs near the information counter Saturday mornings 9am to 12am for tax. And across the street at AA insurance brokerage for your insurance.
