Currently using AIS3G/MaoMao and volume based packages seem to be based on time as well... i usually get 1.5 G for 30 days but if you go over the limit you are stuck with slow speed internet for remaining days as you don't get the option to re-activate until 30 days so have to switch to another package.... then after the 30 days the original package automatically re-activates over-riding the current package ??... all a bit messy as my internet usage can vary from low to very high but i want high speed on demand..

Anyway, any opinions which company offers the best unlimited high speed internet out there and how much ?....

also is there a difference between AIS3G and MaoMao, they seem to be separate identities regards to packages ??

cheers

Your best bet is to visit each shop and ask.

They sometimes do offers for new customers that don't appear on their websites, or maybe only in Thai.

I assume you can not read Thai, so get help from a Thai friend to browse the following website together:

http://www.prothaidd.com/

this is the most comprehensive and up-to-date website covering all sorts of packages that the three main providers have to offer

They nearly all offer "unlimited" but as you have experienced and is the case with all of them, after a certain amount of usage your speed drops to crap.

You dont mention whether this is for just mobile use, or home use, why you havnt had it hardwired to your home ?

a bit more info may help others provide better advice/recommendations.

in my experience with thai internet packages using your phone as a hotspot for your pc and independently, the speeds are all extremely variable and inconsistent. Given the number of cell phone towers mutilating the landscape, you would expect better, but as they say TIT

I've got an AIS smartphone package, as recommended by a Thai guy ( a customer) in Telewiz. I was struggling with the language and the wife was struggling with the technology. It's been fine for the last 6 months, but this last month we have been carried away with the usage. However I got a SMS from AIS to dial *777*771#. It's 1 GB for 30 days; it's been fine.

I have the AIS one2call package, and it's the worst coverage I've ever had, haven't even got 3G in the Mall Korat. I'm gonna try Dtac next....had True before that, and was getting 2,400 baht bills each month, and was using my home wifi most of the time.

I think maybe they are ALL pretty much garbage if you ask me...

Dtac has plans for 599b a month I think and when you go over the limit you get an SMS that you can top up the data plan,

with all these its 3g-4g the first GB or whatever your plan is and then it goes down to a real slow crawl but still works,

Thanks for replies... haven't logged in for a while....

AIS have an app you can download with all the package details....Using one now from AIS *771# which is 1 GB for 30 days for 150baht.... fast speed usually lasts 5-7 days but can re-activate again (as the slow speed is useless) without waiting for 30 day to expire so works out about 600 /month..... s

We have a landline in the house but its cut off as the bills were making no sense and seemed to be paying 1500 plus every month for what i dont know ??..... just use the mob for tethering when on the computer... speed is ok but you but downloading movies or you-tube is out of the question as it eats up your data...

TRUE package 499 - 3gp + 2gb looks good, might get a sim and check it out ..
