Using Power Glue To "Fix" A Part Of Metallic Color On the Rear Corner Of The Bornet?

Hello and Sawasdee Khrap,

Wanted to post two photos, but found out that the camera's battery's empty. My truck got a new paint job about 18 months ago and one piece at the left rear bonnet will soon come off.

The rear paint is still intact, but a piece about the size of a child's hand has a cut and i can even lift it up. I don't want to paint the whole bonnet, so here's my question.

Could I just lift it up, out power glue underneath, without destroying the color? I don't even know how that happened, but believe the garage had made a bad job.

Any ideas would be deeply appreciated. Might be worth to post some photos.....Cheers-wai2.gif

You didn't pay to much for the paint job did you?

The whole pick up was redone, including welding the frame by two companies that took 17 months only.whistling.gif

It was paid by the insurance the guy had who caused the accident, which is the same I've got. First "garage" didn't repair the damaged frame and other very important stuff.

When it came back after 13 months and Mitsubishi checked the steering, it turned out that the whole chassis was a total mess.

Then Mitsubishi made the whole job again, welded the frame and I assume they only sprayed another coat on top of the first shitty paint job.

The 6 weeks they promised me became many moons and I finally got it back after 17 months, just to find out that four ball joints were in a serious condition.

I finally got it in a nice shape, just wondering how that can happen. I very seldom park my car in the hot son for longer.

Please see photos, could I just fix this part, or do I need to Paint the whole part?

Thanks for any info.

If I was driving a truck that had a messed up chassis that had to be re-welded by the manufacturer after the first chop-shop failed and took 17 months to get back from insurers repairs, the last thing I would be worried about is the shitty paint job.

Get the hood stripped and repainted bud........thumbsup.gif

If that's happened to the hood, I'd have serious doubts about the rest of the paint job.

That slice is too thick to be just paint - I suspect that's body filler - another insurance claim? biggrin.png

I'd agree also about the filler. I hsd a replacement bonnet a few years back, which turned out to be cheap copy from Taiwan.

The entire bonnet eventually went the same way, and, as by that time I was sick of bleating about it

- so I went at it with my own paint stripper (which also killed off all the filler, and then delivered it to the shop to complete the job

but this time round at it was now guaranteed to come back to me with just the : one layer of fresh filler, and no old paint left behind to react with the new...

...and I'm talking about a brand new replacement bonnet, a cheap and nasty one with big manufacturing divots in it

That's pretty bad! 17 months of screwing you around.....and did they provide a loan car?

The bonnet has been damaged and filled instead of fitting a new bonnet which it obviously required.

Probably the repairer will have billed the insurance co. for a new bonnet.

I would write to the insurer stating you are not satisfied, especially taking into account how long the job took and send them these photos.

Sounds like it should have been written off as a total loss anyway.

Yep, but only after many discussions. The first was a Toyota Vigo that also had a serious accident before and there's something really wrong with the brakes.

I think it was another customer's car. Lol. What a piece of shit it was. Then they gave me a Ford Pick Up, that was really adventurous to drive with.

On my last day, driving from Ubon to Sisaket, a loud noise started and I thought damn the engine's done and dusted. ( Always checked oil, water, etc..)

Then it turned out the the compressor for the aircon was dead, disconnected the wire and the noise was gone. Gave it back the next day, received my car, which they'd used to get all sorts of parts from almost everywhere.

Some of these guys, a very shitty garage in Kantharalak, drove my car like a race car and didn't give a flying Kangaroo.

The whole thing was a huge head ache. When the job was finally done and all wa sorted out, a Honda CBR 150 became airborne and almost hit my windshield.

The driver didn't see a tractor with a trailer, drove on the trailer, driver and motorcycle flew through the air, the guy landed on his feet, right in front of the tractor, the bike hit my front bumper and destroyed some other parts.

My car had to stay for one week at the cops, even when I had nothing to do with the accident. Then back to Mitsubishi and get the stuff done, paid by the guy's insurance.

Was a real weird time. Good that I can laugh about it now, had a time where i wanted to freak out. If the shit huts the fan, it's everywhere..facepalm.gif .

nothing is impossible when you look at the local drivers here. Have a safe trip !!!

BTW, the hood's done and dusted. My wife took some power glue, gave it a try and you can hardly see what i showed in the photos. facepalm.gif

P.S. The crash was that serious that I was unconscious for about four hours, had some very serious spine injuries that the Sisaket hospital of course not found out.

Instead of making some X-Rays, the sent me home after six hours.Had some broken ribs as well, various stitches, etc...very close to a wheelchair.I couldn't sit on a motorbike, so i had to pay a guy from the hospital 600 baht to take me home in his private car, just 1 km away from the freaking hospital.

Then you might understand why so many people are dying there after accidents. The crash happened at six o' clock in the morning, so someone would assume that the right check up would be done, having a proper insurance.

Took two more hospitals and a lot of pain to go through to finally have the right diagnosis. I would have been very fragged up without such a nice and caring wife

The wreckage was brought to the local cops and sat their for a long time, before anything happened. God, I'd not even wish my biggest enemy to go through so much shit.

The first company in Kantharalak is one of the worst places for any car repairs. Mitsubishi finally did a good job, but only after I'd lost my temper and made the foreman a little shorter, with the help of my wife's uncle who's at that time the boss of the transport department.

Then they found out that he'd signed some documents for a few luxury cars and was sent to an inactive post. The burned out cars in Korat were meant for Sisaket, but..............

You gotta know somebody here, or at least somebody who knows somebody. but that's also in many Western countries the case.sad.png
