Linzz
There's not many humanitarians on TV! Not that many Muslims or Rohingians either I would guess. What was your point again? What a stupid reply. Not many Rohingyas because they would not have the luxury of computers let alone money to buy them since they have no home or country to live in and struggle with poverty and persecution. Not many Muslims because this is mostly an anti Muslim hate speech blog. Quite simple really. So what was your point again?
Linzz
Really astonishing how many dumb, idiotic, heartless and vile comments you get on the Rohinga- subject! ...and TVF- comments are even worse! Give your address, contact details and bank account status to the United Nations to qualify your offer for the number of them that you guarantee to provide for. I agree that it is a disaster that these people are out there and that letting them in here would be a worse disaster. They are NOT likely to be good citizens who would fit easily into the Thai way of life. The Thai navy is accused of threatening them with guns but they are the ones trying to hold a gun to Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia etc's head. Bangladesh is a Muslim country. Why were this lot in particular (not ex Burma) un-happy there? Why were this lot in particular (not ex Burma) un-happy there? Simple, they live in squalor in camps and are not allowed to leave. These are a stateless people.
kerrysum
It would be my guess that nobody in the Thai Navy even speaks Rohingya or Bangali. Guess that would be my thought.....
steven100
Thailand as any other sovereign nation has a right to protect it's borders from illegal boat people wherever they come from. Why do countries have border protection practices in place ? not for the fun of it thats for sure. It's there to ensure there is no illegal entry into the country .... correct . it dosent have the right to shoot at innocents on the open sea It has every right. It's part of their border protection policy. Try sailing one of these boats near china and see if any shots get fired ... It's irrelevant whether they are from Bangladesh or the Bahamas or wherever, border protection is simply that .... border protection. !!

steven100
As stated .... we need to care for these poor souls and get them well enough to get back to their friends. These people need help. To help them in a humane way they should be provided with food, water, medicine & help the sick and weary. Then ensure their vessel is safe and provide enough fuel to reach Bangladesh. They need help from SE Asia and then provided safe passage back to Bangladesh or Myanmar or India or elsewhere, if Myanmar doesn't want them then they need to go to India or Pakistan, there are many muslim brothers there. This is the most common sense approach and it doesn't open the flood gate for more to come. Also, go after the smugglers and kill them.

You understand the circumstances that lead to them, leaving Myanmar, do you?! Holding the gun to anyone's head does not really fit. They came to Myanmar generations ago! They live there, with basically no rights (let alone human rights) get forced out of their homes, attacked even killed. There is a genocide in the making! steven100
Australia will not accept any boat people under any circumstance. Prime Minister Tony Abbott has reiterated his firm stance on asylum seekers, definitively ruling out resettling thousands of refugees stranded at sea in Southeast Asia. A Thai-led crackdown on established human trafficking routes has resulted in packed ships being abandoned at sea by people smugglers. More than 3000 refugees have swam to shore or been plucked from the water near Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand in recent days after the nations refused to accept displaced Rohingya refugees. Around 1.1 million Rohingya Muslims have been rendered stateless in Burma by a government which denies them citizenship and views them as illegal immigrants. An estimated 7000 people are stuck on ill-equipped boats at sea. Yesterday, the Prime Minister was blunt when the prospect was raised of resettling some of the stranded refugees, saying “nope, nope, nope”. Do not try to come to Australia by boat because you will never be resettled in Australia. steven100
Boat people grateful for sanctuary, Gambia accepts boat people. Gambia has accepted the Rohingya migrants and will take them in. This small poverished nation has accepted the boat people as part of their duty being muslim. The plight of the boat people escalated when many turned up in Malaysia and Indonesia. Guest
The Royal Thai Navy might have fired on these vessels to destroy any information that might incriminate the RTN with the trafficking of these people. Unfortunately the gunner was not very accurate and missed with his only shell! I agree with some others on here, not too many humanitarian people on this site. Just like all the politicians in this country, self, self, self Who said any shots were fired? References please? If you read my entry properly it said in the first sentence " might "! Second sentence, a little bit of sarcasm ! I agree with you about the Muslim problem, but alas that is not our concern. Although I could ask you for a link about Allah and Mohammed, sarcasm. OK, have it your way .. open mouth, insert other foot. Sorry to say, and please do not take this personally .. you are looking like an idiot right about now. If this is your idea of "obvious comedy" ... Don't quit your day job
