Best value smartphone up to 5k bht

Featured Replies

Hi. Friend in the village has asked wifey to pick her up a smartphone when she visits BKK next week.

She has up to 5k to spend.

Can anyone suggest the best value available smartphone. She is into selfies and LINE chats with friends.

1Gb Ram is a must. Any with 2Gb?

16Gb of storage would be nice and a 5" screen.

Is all that asking too much?

Thanks for reading.

2nd hand Nokia , maybe even a new one

Running windows phone though

I recommend the Asus Zenfone 5 - my teenage son loves his. You can get one very close to 5K. Great screen and 2GB Ram too...

Some even a little under 5k:

Yes I've got a Zenfone5 and it's great. Didn't realise you could get one for close to 5k now so thanks for the heads up.

Fortune Tower above the Rama 9 MRT still has a lot of shops selling the Zenphone-5 on the 2nd level. At this time, the Z-5 is really the only phone generally available in the under B6000 range with 2gb ram/16rom. BTW, if you go there, beware of the cheap Z-5 cases you'll see being sold in bins there. Very shoddy and prone to making pocket calls. Usually sold for B299

Lenovo has announced several new phones with similar specs in the same price range but I haven't seen them on sale in Thailand yet.

Tesco has the i-mobile IQ6.3 on promo, run-out sale (older model but still good specs)

Was originally 7,990 or similar on release, saw it yesterday for 2,990

Have had a couple of IQ phones, happy with thems for the price

avoid the i-Style range though (lower end)

Zenfone 5 or check out CsC inter ( http://www.csci.co.th/ ) they are doing a clearance of the Lenovo Vibe Z, 5,700b. There are also a couple of newer Lenovos with mediatek chips the A7000 etc.

I got a Vibe Z at mobile expo.. Lovely phone for 5,700b

I absolutely second that ! Zenfone 5 seems to fit perfectly.

Just don't buy from lazada where you may have problems to find out WHO is actually fulfilling the sale.

cdiscount.co.th is a lot more reputable, it is BIg C's online shopping system. And in many cases a lot cheaper too. like this:

Had a look around today, first chance to actually get hands on one in pantip at CSCI. They only seem to be selling what's there in the advert though, either the 6990 or the 11990 option. The third choice and perhaps the best spec wise is the dtac offer, 9990 for the 4gb/32gb version.
