ICT promotes life long learning

BANGKOK, 25 May 2015 (NNT)-The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is launching a campaign to promote lifelong learning in the digital economy.

According to ICT Minister Pornchai Rujiprapa, the Ministry, together with the Ministry of Education, has since April set up a committee to determine how the campaign is going to be carried out and who the targets will be.

The campaign will be conducted on both short-and long-term basis. Among its short-term goals is the ICT's plan to bring electric power to border areas currently with no electricity in order to promote e-learning in schools,

An online education program will be developed in conjunction with the National Science and Technology Development Agency, the Office of Higher Education Commission and the Ministry of Education.

The program is aimed at increasing literacy rate among younger students through online and software programs. As for the long-term plan, the committee will develop a plan as soon as the current study is completed.
