May 28, 201511 yr FRIDAY SHOWPrayut to rethink time and length of his weekly TV showThe NationPrime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha is considering cutting the length of his weekly national address by half and may move it out of the prime-time slot.BANGKOK: -- Prayut said yesterday he would try to keep his speech to about 30 minutes during the programme, "Returning Happiness to People in the Country," which is broadcast every Friday night at 8.30pm."The production team is also seeing if the programme's broadcast time slot can be deferred," he said. The programme normally runs longer than one hour. When asked if he watched the pre-recorded programme, the prime minister said: "I do and I feel bored."He added that viewers preferred a popular TV soap opera to his programme."What I said [in the programme] is aimed at encouraging visions for development in the future," he said. The prime minister brought forward today's programme a few hours to make way for a live broadcast of the Sea Games football match between Thailand and Laos, starting at 7.30pm.Prayut's programme will be broadcast at 5pm today instead of the normal time, deputy government spokesman Maj-General Sansern Kaewkamnerd said."The prime minister wants the Thai people to focus on watching the match and cheering our footballers. The people all over the country, as well as the prime minister, will certainly be glued to the TV watching the match," the spokesman said.Source: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/politics/Prayut-to-rethink-time-and-length-of-his-weekly-TV-30261164.html-- The Nation 2015-05-29
May 28, 201511 yr No matter what time slot they move his programmer to people will still be bored and want to watch a soap instead. Watching a man stand there telling you how good and happy every week is boring. They should slot this program me for 3am. If people are interested they can catch it in YouTube or record it and watch it later. People want to know what the gov is doing But this is not the way to do it.
May 29, 201511 yr Viewers prefer soap opera. Now That's a slap to the General's face. 555 Edited May 29, 201511 yr by jerojero
May 29, 201511 yr I'm waiting for some posters to plead with their hero to extend the time. I think it should be at least 3 hours long and on a constant loop of repeats, on all channels. But then again I have run out of medication and will have to go to the asylum to get more today.
May 29, 201511 yr I'm waiting for some posters to plead with their hero to extend the time. He should extend the time as his program has probably done more to reduce the countries energy consumption then any other measure taken.
May 29, 201511 yr The fact he is thinking shows a first in my book. I pay for a satellite and get a good program interrupted by boring usless soundbites that does not in anyway make me feel happier, rather the opposite.
May 29, 201511 yr I find it odd that one movie channel I watch which is in English and no Thai sub-titles is interupted by this program which is all in Thai with no English subtitles. Now I like to see the explanation or logic in that!

May 29, 201511 yr Maybe Ms. Yingluck was unto something when her program became "Saturday morning with the PM(s representative)"
May 29, 201511 yr Viewers prefer soap opera. Now That's a slap to the General's face. 555 What about the soap he had promised to write himself?
May 29, 201511 yr To bump up viewership he could integrate the lottery drawing into his speech... He could draw a ball out of the bouncing ball machine every 5 minutes of his 30 minute time slot...
May 29, 201511 yr Viewers prefer soap opera. Now That's a slap to the General's face. 555 What about the soap he had promised to write himself? He's still trying to get the villain on board... Last seen in South Korea.
May 29, 201511 yr It is no surprise that he has never been asked to be a contestant on ''Just a Minute''
May 29, 201511 yr Personally I've never met anyone who admits to watching it. How many people have you met, who admit they are watching porn?? Curtains down, turn on the telly and get the weekly Prayut-fix................
May 29, 201511 yr I'm waiting for some posters to plead with their hero to extend the time. Has everyone forgotten the prime minister that lost his office due to having a TV show?
May 29, 201511 yr In view of his ego I would have thought he'd like to switch to Castro style format. 4 hour speeches would spur the popcorn sales.
May 29, 201511 yr It is good news indeed that the P.M. has reviewed his performance and is attempting to improve himself. I have never been nor ever will attain any high Political Office however I have been tutored in Public Speaking. As a cast-iron rule in lesson 101 it was explained that unless one is a very gifted speaker or the subject matter is of incredible importance to the audience then ten (10)minutes is the expected time that one can get full attention and the message "Sinks In". Unfortunately the weekly programme failed on both accounts. Good luck Mr.P.M. for your future improvements. Regards from PEAP
May 29, 201511 yr Thank goodness, now maybe the Thai girl will not interrupt my TV viewing to complain about his bloviating during her lakorn on Friday night
May 29, 201511 yr An inflammatory post has been removed Arnold Judas Rimmer of Jupiter Mining Corporation Ship Red Dwarf
May 29, 201511 yr I used to enjoy his show before it became him just reading the teleprompter. The tirades, the self righteous way he talked. It's all over now. The live news conferences where he freestyles is more entertaining.
May 29, 201511 yr The PM wanted to bring happiness back to the country and this certainly is a move into the right direction. As far as tonight’s football match goes I will not watch it until it is covered by a degree under article 44, because I can’t stand football (I am not the only one in my family).
May 29, 201511 yr Personally I've never met anyone who admits to watching it.How many people have you met, who admit they are watching porn??Curtains down, turn on the telly and get the weekly Prayut-fix................ Don't bother with 'Backdoor Sluts 7'. It is rubbish, err, so I am told....
May 29, 201511 yr Do people have a choice to change channels to watch something else? Or is it a blanket broadcast on all channels? Is there any debate allowed with all this talk or is it just an statement from the from the person in control of the country? Isnt that also known as propaganda?
May 29, 201511 yr Personally I've never met anyone who admits to watching it. I've watched most of the weekly shows - only out of curiosity. I do NOT support the junta and its backers. To me, the most telling Friday night statement made was that the General wanted to "Restore credibility to the judiciary." Speaks volumes. As reported in the media in and outside of Thailand, the judiciary has issued highly questionable rulings over the years - some that have favored the left, and in more recent years, rulings that have greatly benefited the right. A better use of airtime would be discussing Judicial reform rather than berating the media and junta opponents.
