I registered and paid monthly sub to cyberghost.

Im now at the 'my devices' page and want to set up the vpn on my apple macbook pro. The 3 options are

- IOS

- Android

- Other devices.

I selected other devices and the protocol selections are:

- Open VPN (udp)

- Open VPN (tcp)

- IPsec

- L2TP

- PPTP

Which one should I choose?

The operating sys field I selected MacOS.

the country field does not have Thailand in the list. I bought this macbook pro in oz 5 yrs ago. Should I be selecting Australia?

- An unrelated question is.... if I buy a new macbook pro this year and buy a new subscription for cyberghost for that laptop, which country would I choose (I intend to buy it online where I think they are made in China). Would I have to select the U.S

Thanks for helping me with these daft questions

I got that now...

Other devices is OK and OS as you described.

Country, sure, no Thailand.

Its not "your" country, but here you preselect a default country/server for your connection (just guessing without reading).

No server in Thailand and would be almost useless.

I just checked my settings and the country selection is just empty (a state that can not be reproduced using the web interface).

I select the country/server at first startup of CG.

Then change it as desired.

For you: simply select "UK", some server name will be filled in.

Can be changed anytime when using CG.

Protocol: I have OpenVPN (UDP).

I guess there must be experts in the forum who can tell whether there is a "better" selection from the list.

Quick Google says me that it is a good selection.

OpenVPN is the recommended protocol for desktops including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Highest performance - fast, secure and reliable.

thanks for your help khunB. Im still having issues. Please note that I havent previously downloaded a free version or anything. I basically registered and paid for a premium account

I selected the 2 fields (that you suggested above) and downloaded cyberghost zip file. I opened up the zip file and there are 4 files there:

ca.crt

client.crt

client.key

openvpn.ovpn

I tried opening the final file but it says that I have to open it with an appication. I opened it with chrome and all that is displayed is text narrative.

Why isnt cyberghost app displayed after download?

Please help me if you can. \\

thanks

I realise now that the problem is that I havent yet installed the cyberghost clien on my mac- only the files.

I then downloaded the free installation of the client. Its asking me to drag the files into the exe. However a message is displayed saying that I dont have the correct version of mac o/s

I have zero experience with SW installation on a Mac.

Never seen anything such mysterious on a Windows installation.
Download the setup, install.

Logon with the credentials you got after the payment.

Free version just means you use CG without login.

The installer for Mac seems to be "cg5mac_5.0.14.11.dmg".

I browsed through the online help

https://support.cyberghostvpn.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/List/Index/207/general-questions

and can not understand what you do, what happens at your site.

I found out the problem is that my version of mac operating system is too old and the cyberghost client doesnt support 10.6.8.

This is what they had to say...

10.6.8 is not a supported OS since it is quite old and new versions are out there.
