One EOD dies and 11 injured in two roadside bomb explosions in Pattani

PATTANI: -- One explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) police was killed and 11 police and soldiers were injured when Southern militants detonated two bombs separately aiming to kill soldiers on patrol and EOD team coming to clear the explosion scene on Highway 409 in Khok Pho district of Pattani province late Saturday night.

Among the 11 injured are four EOD police.

The killed EOD officer was identified as Pol Sgt Sakrin Sang-ngern.

According to Napradoo station police officer Pol Lt Preecha Prachumchai, a group of about 10 soldiers on a military six-wheel truck was patrolling on the highway to provide protection for passing vehicles at about 10.30 pm.

As the truck arrived at Ban Chompoo village in Tambon Paklor of Khok Pho district, militants hiding under cover of darkness in roadside bushes detonated a powerful home-made bomb, knocking down the truck to the side of the road, and wounding seven soldiers.

Surviving soldiers radioed for help from nearby camp and EOD unit.

They were later rushed to Khok Pho hospital for treatment.

This is another elephant in the room for Thailand. There have been about 7,000 terrorist deaths down there in the past 15 years. That's far more than any western country.

What relevance does it have to any western country ?

They are closer to the the Middle East, Iraq trumps this number tenfold

Go back and look at the death rate during the Sri Lankan civil war, which again is much closer to Thailand than any western country.

Don't worry. According to the many experts of TVF, the military administration has restored peace and order to the nation. There are few if any terror events now. All is well. I was reassured of this yesterday when I was accused of spreading fear and lies when I mentioned the increasing violence. It was all made up I was told.

The terrorist do not have to worry about being caught because they get a 'get out of jail free' card for ramadam.

Yep have to agree. Let them have their own state, no help from Thai Government but warn them that ANY form of aggression will be considered an act of war.
