Hi all. First post here, thanks for any replies! My gf and I are taking our bicycles to Thailand for a five week ride. Can anyone recommend a guesthouse around Nai Yang Beach? That's where we will be putting down for the start of our adventure. We enjoy quiet, 'off the beaten path' local kinds of accomodations, perhaps at a homestay type guesthouse. Any ideas??

Hi - I presume you mean NaiYang beach in Phuket? I have a vested interest because I am building a small hotel about 600 metres from the beach. But it will not open until November.

As for other accomodations in the area, there is the Nai Yang Beach Resort which is just building new rooms. But their price per night is about 3,000 baht. Golddiggers Resort has rooms at 1800 baht, but the owner tells me he is fully booked up now!

There are other family houses in the area which are probably cheaper. But most of them have no email/internet site and it is difficult to know if they are booked up or not.

When do you want to come and how much do you want to pay per night? I can maybe write down the telephone number of some of these guesthouses for you.

Thanks Simon, yes that's where we meant. We see some rooms in the NYResort for 650B for the 'backyard view, no breakfast' on the online booking site. We have an enquiry with them and have not yet heard from them. We did see a phone # for the Wong Lee house on Travelfish.org and that seems like the kind of place we'd like to go. NYresort also offers airport pick-up service for 300B. We will be landing around 17:00 so we thought it might be good for us to be picked up that first night. Still not sure if they can handle our bikes or not. We will be arriving October 17th. We only need a fan type room so 700B or less would be great. Staying in a family run guesthouse type of place would be best for us. Thanks for your generous offer and hope all goes will with your new hotel project!

OK, it looks like I have answered my own question... We found a place called Eco Guesthouse and have communicated through email our arrival time with the very friendly owner Ms Janchai Srisanga. It seems like the perfect little place for us to start out. We can't wait! R&J
