Leica Q

Featured Replies

Have y'all checked the price of this nifty lil wonder?

B & H list it for $4,250....It also has built in WiFi though,

so perhaps that makes the price worthwhile. Or is it the

28 Summilux @1.7 that does it? AF/manual focus...up to

you but an AF Leica is just a gimmick tio me....just my opinion.

Pro's....It's a Leica...nuff said. [email protected] Summi is sweet.

Con's...Freakin expensive, not pocketable (pouchable OK), has Wifi.

Conclusion....How much $$$$ do you really wanna spend?

Let's hope the QC has improved!

Having paid precisely twice the above amount for my M240 I've just had to return it for the strap lug problem. You know, where the bloody lugs come loose, possibly pulling out, and the camera is in danger of hitting the floor. But then, I guess for $8,500 one can't expect perfection!

It's now been in Singapore for 5 weeks with no sign of return. Yes, I know, Singapore is million of miles from us here and one must allow for time travel, but 5 weeks (and counting) for a bit of glue!

Then of course, and this will really set me off, I'll no doubt be expected to pay carriage both ways and import duty upon it's return! This from poor QC and a known issue.

At this point Leica are really gonna know I'm around.

Rant over. Better now.

Autofocus is hardly a gimmick if there is no rangefinder. The auto/manual focus seems to have been particularly well implemented and the autofocus is fast and accurate.

It's expensive, unless you compare it with other Leica products (the new Summilux 28mm F1.4 lens costs considerably more than than this complete camera) in which case it is something of a bargain!

^^^ FR...Don't really need a rangefinder (would be nice tho) with EVF & MF do we? Just a splt image/prism

type screen in the EVF will do nicely & that's fairly simple to do from a factory standpoint.

Then again...FG's strap lug problem comes to mind which implies Leica's QC capabilities at the moment.

Note to FG...A drop or two of LocTite on the lug threads if the body threads aren't stripped out will fix it

if it happens again...whenever your 240 returns from far off Sing City that is. Fixed a Nik FM this way back

in the stone age.

No we don't; I was just pointing out that without a rangefinder, an EVF is hardly a gimmick.

^^^ I never considered an EVF a gimmick in the first place.

How are you finding 28mm?

28mm is my favorite focal length anyway so its perfect, though I know that a lot of people who don't like shooting that wide.

I waited for the Sony RX1 version 2, but it underwhelms in so many ways. The Q is much more appealing and no doubt more enjoyable to shoot. But the cost...
