Hi...I was hoping somebody here could help clarify something for me.

My wife is here with me in UK, she has just recieved her UK passport, so she now has dual passports.

We are booked to fly to Thailand on 18th January 2016, so she will leave UK on UK passport and enter Thailand on Thai passport.

The only thing is, her Thai passport expires on 24th January (6 days after we arrive). Now I know this would be an issue if entering on a foreign passport as they have to have a minimum of 6 months life on them, but as she is Thai, entering Thailand on a Thai passport then am I right to assume this will be fine?? Could somebody please confirm this.

We plan to renew her Thai passport whilst we're in Thailand.

Thanks in advance.

A Thai can travel to and enter Thailand on an expired passport.

She would not be able to use it to enter any other country on the way here is the only restriction.

Thanks Guys, that's brilliant. It's just so much easier, cheaper, and less time consuming for us to do it in Bangkok rather than trek down to London.

If for whatever reason she isn't able to get a new one while here, she won't be able to leave on her other passport.

I think she will need an ID card and be listed on a house registration. If she is, shouldn't be a problem.

Per above, no problem. But she needs to be on a household registration book in Thailand to be able to apply for a passport while in Thailand.

Yes, she's listed on her parents house registration book, so renewal of the Thai passport should be easy once we're there.

Thanks for that though Guys.

Actually not even that. You can find the requirement mentioned by airlines, or to apply for a visa, but not to enter Thailand, on Immigration or MoFA sites.
