PATTAYA: -- With the expected debut of the ASEAN Economic Community set for the end of 2015, the Royal Thai Police want to ensure that Police at one of its key tourist destinations, Pattaya, is ready and they sent one of their top officers to the City on Tuesday to make sure.

Police General Wut, Deputy National Police Commissioner was welcomed by Police Colonel Sukthat, the Pattaya Police Chief who hosted a meeting of all Police Divisions based in Pattaya, including Tourist Police, Immigration Police, Highway Police and Marine Police to ensure their crime fighting skills are at the required standard.

Currently 6 to 8 Million foreign and domestic tourists visit Pattaya every year and this number is expected to rise when the trade barriers fall between ASEAN member countries later this year. An influx of foreign workers is expected which brings its own challenges to the Police.

What do the police have to do to prepare for the Asean-economic community, simply enforce the law.

"Are your crime fighting skills at the required standard?"

"Yes!"

"Good. Then we're ready. Don't mess with Pattaya!"

Better get new uniforms with lots of braid on them

doubling the number of police owned whore houses in Pattaya to get ready for ASEAN is a big job. Looks like they are taking it seriously.

Does that mean, they will now accept tea money in all the ASEAN currencies?

More chickens in the coup for the foxes! I wonder what the death rate will be next year!

Gen.Wut just wasted his time to discuss with Thai police and all the ones who are responsible for immigration ect.....

As Pattaya Police is doing anyway what they want to do: but sure one thing they dont do: make their duties!!!!!!!!!!

Hey....Will they rush to the scene
