Commerce Ministry’s mobile blue flag units to be sent to 755 sub-districts nationwide this month

BANGKOK, 4 July 2015 (NNT) - The Ministry of Commerce is sending out mobile blue flag buses to 755 sub-districts in 128 districts, 19 provinces this month which have been severely affected by droughts, offering commodity goods at a 30 - 50 percent discount.

Speaking on the project, Permanent Secretary for Commerce Chutima Bunyapraphasara said the campaign this time is a joint effort among her ministry, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Interior. The mobile units will be sent out every day to visit the 755 target sub-districts. The mission is expected to cover all the targets by July 23rd.

Products being offered in the campaign are divided into 2 groups. Essential items include bagged rice, cooking oil, sugar and eggs. The prices of these goods would be 50 percent off their market prices.

The other group is commodity goods which include shampoo, soap, toothpaste, detergents, dishwashing liquid, canned fish, instant noodle, and fish sauce. These items are priced at 30-50 percent lower than their original prices.

Yep, another poorly thought out campaign to help the poor people, while hurting the mom and pop stores.

Why not kick your brains in gear and put just a tiny bit of thought into these programs. Buy the goods at the local mom and pop stores at full value and then resell them at a discount to the people affected by the drought in the same area as the mom and pop stores or are you getting kickbacks from the suppliers you are getting the goods from?

Just another populist policy to buy votes and continue corruption.

Oops. It is populist in a very cosmetic way, but with no voters, and no less corruption......
